🇺🇸 Discussion: General Election 2024, 🥥 VS 🍊

US News
It's weird to see so many Dems act just like they accused Bernie fans of acting in 2016 and 2020. Where the Bernie supporters were told to kneel and kiss the ring.

They don't mean white women, right? It would be a big upset if the Karens abandoned Trump.
I think they mean women on the whole. Which went 55-44. Though I think the fear for Trump would be the white women vote returning to something close to to 2016, where he only won by 2 points. Dems actually won white women in 2018, but lost them by their worst number in 2022.

If he had stopped after talking about his near death experience, he would've done great. Then he went on for another hour. :funny:

Trump is the one thing giving me some hope the Dems can still do this, no matter the candidate. Trump somehow has turned his near assassination into an afterthought.

I think they're called "birthing persons" now. :o

The man kissed a firefighter helmet on a coat rack with the victim's of the assassination name spelled incorrectly.

I wouldn't equate White Women with Karen's.....sure, they exist, but women are, in general, not happy about a bunch of (mostly old) white dudes telling them they have to bring a pregnancy to term or putting restrictions on the advice they get from their doctors. Look at the vote in Kansas if you don't believe me.

Sure, there's a contingent of pro-life, pearl clutching morons who want to push their "sensibilities" on to others, but they are in a significant minority.

Trump won white women in 2016 and 2020. The Republicans won them in 2022 by over a 10 point margin.

Whenever my wife and I discuss the ongoing nightmare of a Trump reelection I put the blame solely at the feet and her and her fellow female European Americans. I can understand white dudes voting for Trump. We're morons, who have consistently been shown to vote contrary our own economic self interests. But Trump does push policies that support and extend white male supremacy in the US. While some white spouses are able to draft off of the advantages provided to their pale hubbies, they aren't getting nearly as much out of their vote for Trump as they are losing, such as body autonomy.

I suggest anyone who watch this, know who AOC and who the Progressives are and why they're taking the position they are. Jamal Bowman was just killed for "betraying" Biden's policies because he actually wanted what Biden promised.

AOC clearly wants Kamala, which makes this all the more obvious.

Whoever she wants, she is expressing a deep concern that the people calling for Biden to drop out do not have a cohesive plan behind the scenes, with many of them wanting to bypass Kamala for an entirely new ticket, which could lead to more chaos and infighting-- while also flagging the legitimate legal concerns in the swing states and the Supreme Court. These are valid, rational concerns that I think are worth paying attention to. I applaud her for raising these issues regardless of whatever her personal desired outcome may be. I think it's the responsible way to approach it, and too few are doing that right now in this heightened and fear-driven atmosphere.

No, what she's expressing isn't a lack of a cohesive plan. She's making it clear that some behind the scene think we need an open convention. She, smartly, wants people to know that and that it would be a terrible idea. Which is why she's specifically talking to Biden supporters and those who are coconut crazy. AOC has no problem with Harris, but she rightly points out that this all should've been handle a year ago. Guess whose fault it is that it wasn't?

That could all be resolved by Biden by the way. All he'd had to do is endorse Harris if he steps down.

This entire situation points to the weakness of Biden. He can't even control his own party. He's too feeble to do it. Hell, his VP is now talking in "I" statements as opposed to "we". But he can do nothing about it. A real leader could.

Why do you think 2/3rds of the party want someone else?

Can we stop for a minute and just think about how staggeringly insane it is that anyone even wants an open convention? That alone just boggles my mind, that it's even being floated around makes me totally dubious of what anyone's opinion behind the scenes is. It's a totally unserious proposal. You can't be concerned about Joe's chances on one hand, and then respond by bypassing the entire incumbency ticket and imploding a couple of months before voting starts. That's straight lunacy.

I'm seeing conservative outlets running with the "Biden confirmed to step down, will not endorse Harris" stories. I honestly think it's misinfo (which is another thing AOC warned about in her stream). I don't buy that for a second. If he did that, he'd immediately infuriate a lot of his supporters, myself included. It's Biden or it's Harris, and there shouldn't even be a discussion beyond that.

As AOC says in her video, everyone's rush to certainty about predetermined outcomes is not helping anything here, especially when people have been spectacularly wrong about elections countless times.

Mark Zuckerberg was praising Trump today.
Right out of the dictatorship playbook. From a financial standpoint, we're already too close to it when it comes to our election. We should be backing away from it and not moving closer.

Big Tech always liked to be Conservative adjacent. Tax cuts, less worry on policing their content, profits.

Reminder: Musk is a racist and transphobic, Zuckerberg only cares about money and access, and BIll Gates is a sexual predator and probable pedophile (he was an Epstein client).

Between Peter Thiel and Musk, this election definitely seems like a tech oligarchy power grab. Trump is pretty much an empty vessel at this point being backed and managed by people much richer, more powerful and scarier than he is. Honestly not even sure his heart is even really in it this time. He somehow managed to squander all the "assassination momentum" (which sounds weird to say I know lol) with that disaster of a rambling, incoherent RNC speech.

If they're really all in, they would buy Truth Social. :horn:
