🇺🇸 Discussion: Guns, The Second Amendment, NRA - Part II

US News
Cruz almost lost to Beto in 2018. Imagine what he could've done in the Senate had the lizard man lost.

But then Abbott wouldn't have a formidable challenger this year.

I know I'm guilty of telling people not to clown on liberal politicians in local races they are not residents of, but I sold my stock in "Vote for Beto not a Beta" after that miserable defeat in 2018. Beto has no conviction as a politician (suddenly he's not taking guns away as a governor) and is the embodiment of not having another choice to vote for. Even for a politician, his grandstanding sounds disingenuous in the way you hear someone talking, acknowledge the lights are on, but nobody's home. His stunt yesterday was calculated impulsiveness, an oxymoron best described as "this is good for my PR, but I have no idea where I'm going with this and there's no plan aside from walking out". Hijack a microphone. Refuse to leave until Abbott can no longer hide behind his cavalry and be pressed on accounting for his record. Walk in there with a plan to shut those ****ers down and command the narrative here.

Interesting that the Parkland Security Guard who didn’t go into the school got indicted. But these cops got a shout out and an “attaboy” from the Gov.

I’m hearing that one little girl who was hiding got killed because one of the cops yelled from the hall instructing kids to call out if they needed help. When the little girl yelled for help, it alerted the shooter to where she was and he killed her.

I haven't been this angry since June 2020. I'm ready to vote these do-nothing Republicans out tomorrow.

Just proposing a military occupation of our schools.

Not to mention, doing so would probably get more people ie themselves unnecessarily injured or killed if you get people thinking they're John Wick in these sorts of scenarios because they've got a pistol.

Even the police don't seem to receive enough training with firearms & the type of situations that require their proficient use without asking teachers & other school employees to take on that sort of responsibility.
Which brings up why Republicans don't want to require gun safety and maintenance training in order to purchase a gun. I want responsible gun owners not hicks with shotguns shooting at some broken down pickup on the side of the road.

Wall Street Journal - Uvalde Residents Voice Frustration Over Shooting Response
Ms. Gomez convinced local Uvalde police officers whom she knew to persuade the marshals to set her free. Around her, the scene was frantic. She said she saw a father tackled and thrown to the ground by police and a third pepper-sprayed. Once freed from her cuffs, Ms. Gomez made her distance from the crowd, jumped the school fence, and ran inside to grab her two children. She sprinted out of the school with them.

Dont look at Republicans for any solution...they will literally lock children in windowless and doorless rooms just so they dont have to admit that guns are a vital part of the problem.

"More security", "less Doors"...****, how about less easy to access guns you Imbeciles.
I cant stand Conservatives in general, but even less when its about Guns.

Exactly this. They would literally rather have kids locked in something of a prison during the day than give up the "right" to own a weapon that has one purpose; to kill other people, but, damn, they just LOVE children. Do we site harden ALL places of business too? Schools aren't the only places where these things take place.

I'm really at a loss this time. Not that any of these horrific incidents have been easy to get over. But the fact that it's been a decade since Sandy Hook, and absolutely nothing has changed, and once again we are talking about slaughtered children. It's just...I really don't know what to say anymore.

This is not sustainable for any society. This is part of the reason my wife and I are not having children. I don't know how any parent can sleep at night and kiss their kid goodbye in the morning when this is now reality in America. My heart goes out to any parents here or anywhere right now, and kids who are cognizant of what's going on and afraid to go to school.

Between this and the Roe stuff, I really pray to God/Luke Skywalker/Thor/the ghost of Egon Spengler/insert anyone rad real or fictional, that we can vote out as many of these slimebuckets as possible in November. That would be the the only tiny silver lining of such here, but it's definitely not a given.

Nice photo. All they're missing is a Xmas tree, an American flag, and a copy of the constitution.

The fact that we need to provide "hardening" for our schools says we recognize we don't live in a safe society and don't want to address the underlying causes.

As usual, it's up to citizens to lead. The brown nosers fall in line.
