This is not how these things work. Governments typically become tyrannical AFTER they ban guns. It's a lot easier to control an unnamed population. Give up our guns and we'll be just like the U.K.- Cutting sreaks with butter knives, getting arrested over social media posts, and courts deciding if your infant son is deemed fit to live or not.

Weakening the Second Amendment probably would lead to weakening the First Amendment. Already there's a lot of angst and anger over social media speech and insistence that it be more regulated if not even deserving of punishment.

So, you're saying that the guy who put this ad in the paper is a Democrat? I'd bet my paycheck, he's not. My point was, the guy who put out this ad, during Obama's 1st term, was playing on the fears of gun nuts that Obama was going to ban guns. Republicans preached that Obama was going to come for the guns and retailers like this one, latched onto that and used it to sell more guns.

No they didn't. They didn't hold off jack ****. They were handled with kid gloves because the law enforcement on the scene didn't want to massacre a bunch of dumb hick goons, period. Try a stunt like that in say, Putin's Russia and a military style assault would have been the result and those that initiated the stand off would have been decimated by better armed and trained personnel.


Buddy and his group didn't stop **** with their guns. They were shown mercy.

And I would like to add that in my view had they been anything other than a bunch of white farmers the standoff would probably had a violent end. Or in other words... Bundy and his gang of idiots were the beneficiaries of "political correctness". In this case the government and law enforcement did their best to avoid casualties where in another set of circumstances they would likely not shown such a soft touch.


Steal some cigs from a convenience store and run from the police while being brown skinned? Get shot. Collect a group folk, arm them, have them point weapons at law enforcement and threaten violence if your demands aren't met while occupying government property after years of not paying legal fees that are due use of public lands? Not in a position to watch the news just this second. Saw a comment in another thread about a shooting. So was coming in here to see if there was a comment on it. So another mass shooting? I mean given how fast they're increasing, and how much larger the body counts are becoming. I shouldn't be surprised, but still.

I know it's asking for a lot, but hoping not many were injured, let alone killed. Especially hoping this isn't a school shooting.

Finally watching the story on it. I wouldn't be surprised. Police haven't released a motive yet, so best not to jump to conclusions.

However in an America where Trump called the press the enemy of America, it's hard not to have that come to mind.

I remember saying that at some point a judge is going to get shot. When Trump said if anything happens it's the fault of the judge who shot down his travel ban.

For good or bad, a president's voice has a lot of power. If, not confirmed yet, but if this is the motive. That's what happens when a president calls civilians "enemies of America", because he disagrees with them. Especially when your supporters are fanatical in their support of you.
