Well he's an advertisement for people that should not have guns.

some other common suggestions from me:

• close all background check loopholes
• red flag laws / restraining orders
• raise taxes on all guns and ammo so that they aren't ridiculously cheap to acquire massive arsenals
• require liability insurance for every gun owner
• government and private gun buyback programs
• regulate quick-firing and quick-reload semi-automatics as assault weapons (banned)
• ban body armor with few exceptions (security and law enforcement jobs)

I think these two alone could go along way. Serious attempts to keep guns away from people guilty of domestic abuse or cruelty to animals would significantly cut the amount of legally purchased guns in the hands of the type of people likely to do the unthinkable. And it's probably something you could sell even to the conservative crowd. I mean, who wants to be the one defending the rights of wife beaters?

ARs need to be banned. Period. If you want one, you should go join the military. That's where they belong. Also, making the penalties stiffer for gun law violations should be part of any package.
