In a free society you as well as businesses should be able to criticize, shun, and shame whoever it is that you want to, it's what's known as freedom of association - and the U.S. Constitution and law protects that as well as groups of people by racial status, etc.. That is what the NY Times - which shows that Bari Weiss was a symptom not a cause of their internal flawed thinking and hiring - is saying they object to and falsely equate it with government censorship which the rightwing is all about and implementing.


They all stand around watching Tucker's program on FOX News while chuckling 'one of us! one of us!'

Businesses and people not wanting to associate themselves with sexists, rapists, racists, or even the Dixie Chicks during the Iraq War or Russians during their Ukraine invasion has absolutely nothing to do with government censorship. It's freedom of association being practiced. You can like the end result or not like it, but that's what it is. People (incl. myself and everybody reading this) make decisions every second of every day who they want to and do not want to associate with.
