Too bad nobody's trying to stop them, it seems.

The only way this happens and succeeds isn't because of the people in power, but because the average American doesn't care or is giving them full-throated approval to do this kind of thing. The problem isn't with those in power, but the people putting them there. If the average American actually cared about any of this, politicians would be too afraid to continue.

As it stands, they're too afraid of the backlash from their constituents if they stood up against it. That's a much harder problem to solve, because once everyone's been radicalize FOR this kind of thing, you can't really go back. It would take too long and require too much change in our culture and the media landscape that's pouring gasoline on that hate fire every minute of every day. And how exactly do you stop that, let alone reverse it to get us back to a more sane time? I just don't see how.

At this point, we're maybe (if only) swapping out people in power with someone a bit more sane with no ability to do what we need to bring us back around again. Anything done will be reverse immediately by the opposite side taking power again.

I don't see how we wake up from this until most people wake up and realize this isn't how things should be. *Mecha-TikTok has entered the chat*
