Discussion: Planned Parenthood

Ironically, defunding them would cause more abortions. A third of low-income women get their contraception from them.

They dont think that far ahead. Its like when conservatives try to get rid of sex ed. They dont think about the fact that Sex Ed is a necessary part of curbing teen pregnancies and STD and STI control. All they can think about is the horror of little susie seeing a penis or little johny seeing a vagina.

"I'm not sure we need half a billion dollars for women's health issues" says Bush today at a Southern Baptist Church.

I think Bush just wrote Clinton's most effective attack ad with this statement.

Wouldn't it be easier to take some of that funding and give it to adoption agencies so that children could find homes? There a ton of couples who can not conceive but are unable to afford the adoption fees?

There would be less children in those homes if they hadn't been conceived in the first place, so I don't think I agree.

Women, right? Like they can vote or have any type of political power! :whatever: FFS.

I don't get why people ***** about women having sex. It's kind of the thing to do and it's fun for most people involved (there's some exceptions), so why the hubbub about women not wanting to give birth every time they have sex? If the idiots trying to defund PP could give birth they'd change their stance quick enough.

Yeah, didn't take long.

We are officially in a world where presidential candidates are getting in twitter wars. This is getting weird.

Welcome to the new media where we can watch alongside a billion other people famous people have little **** fights with each other.

Yet weirdly I could totally see this happening in early 19th century France and America had they had Twitter.

Yeah, didn't take long.

Penny wise pound foolish. From my understand the US federal government gives PP like 100M, beyond that State distributed(from the Federal Government) gives them a couple hundred million more through medicaid payments, and states can decide to give them even more totaling for like 500M.

On the flip side our defense budget is 650B+

Really? We've now come to the point where presidential candidates ***** at each other on Twitter?

That, and they both come off so posturing.

I'm not going to be one of those guys that says the world is turning into Idiocracy.

I'm going to be one of those guys that says it's getting eerily close though. Pretty soon all pretense will be dropped and candidates will have to fight each other to the death in a cage match.

With the millions planned parenthood gets they could be instead using that money to help poor neighborhoods where teen pregnancy is far more common by providing better education and opportunities which have shown in the past to counter issues like teen pregnancy and crime rates.

But no. That makes sense. Let's just kill unborn children instead. So much easier than fixing problems.

:whatever:

You really have no idea what kind of emotional and physical pain a woman goes through for an abortion, do you? If you did, you would never refer to it as easy.

Planned Parenthood already does that genius. PP's are more often than not, placed in areas where access to health services and education are severely lacking for women.

Abortion services only make up a small percentage (single digits, last I'd checked) of PP's services. A large majority of their work is with cancer awareness, mammograms, sexual education etc.

Here is their website read what they do then get back to us on it. Stop going on about them only 'killing babies'.

3% of their services I believe (going from memory).

(Well using your analogy) maybe IF Parents and Schools taught self control and responsibility to their children there would be less unplanned pregnancies and thus less of a need for abortion.

But in the real world where we live in the're women who for what ever reason have unplanned pregnancies and there are couples who are unable to conceive. So maybe PP could get involved with adoption agencies and give that scared girl/woman the option to give up her child for adoption instead of going through a physically and emotionally traumatic procedure that abortion is???

There are lots of children who need families and there just as many couples who would adopt in a heart beat but can not afford the fee and the requirements imposed that range from buying a newer "safer" car to buying a new house cause they can't afford to remove a pool.

Adoption fees and requirements can be ridiculous and somewhat unrealistic.
