Arnie's not having any of this crap:

Cops are coming with felonies, for the people who toppled the statue. Strangely enough, I hear nothing being done about the black man that was photographied being beaten by 5 White Nationalists.

I couldn't help but note the irony of that myself. At the end of the day a Confederate statue honoring traitors is still held in more regard than the safety of a black American.

The Republican Leader does. He just did it again.

He's an unfit idiot. Only sycophants worship every word and spin it to their advantage if it isn't in total agreement. Trump is not an actual leader.

He is the actual leader of the Republican Party. They voted for him.

I keep saying that. Everyone is all bold and saying "yeah I hate Trump" blah, blah, blah.......but you'd be surprised at how many people are voting for him DL. Again, I don't think Trump is racist, I actually see a lot of his views and agree with him. But he's riding a wave of racism that has been coming up slowly but surely.

What do you agree with him about?

There are tons of Americans here looking for jobs. I don't think it's a good idea to go looking over seas to bring people here who would work for cheap when, again, you have tons of people who are looking for jobs here. I remember a dispute at a local hospital where there was a union dispute with the nurses. We will just say they wanted to get paid $35/hour with benefits. The hospital undercut them, brought foreign nurses in and paid them $25/hour. Same thing with tech jobs who go out of their way to go to India instead of hiring students who are already here looking for jobs.

Problem with Trump is he's an economic broken clock and he's only right twice a day - the rest of the time he's doing moronic things like trying to get deeper into fossil fuels when that's a quickly dying industry or chasing after manufacturing jobs when services make more sense.

Maybe the nurses and tech students should lower their asking price?

Was asked a question and answered. That was a few years ago. Now those same nurses are marching beside those other nurses wanting more/equal pay. Again, I see some of Trump's points but I also see why a lot of people dislike him.

Aint nobody stopping americans to work in the fields. But those jobs are beneath us and are for the....Oh right.

Absolutely right! But when you have qualified Americans that apply for certain jobs but yet you want to go overseas for someone who has even less experience than the person here, then I have a problem with that. Again, I'm just one guy and I'm being open with it but it is what it is. Label me as whatever but I am so not the only one who feels this way.

Uh, I wasnt replying to you. I didnt even read any of the previous responses on here. lol

My response was merely in a general rant kinda way. I'm from a cali town in which all the hard work from immigrants is all here, and only a blind fool would ignore.

the COLA in the US is not cheap... the big problem is they want workers to work for cheap AND still be consumers of all the fairly expensive crap thats produced. Iphones, 4k flatscreens, cars etc etc they want us to buy and buy INTO this crap yet want the cheapest labor they can get.

Sorry to break it to you, but a good majority of people overseas are far more educated and overqualified than the average American, especially in a lot of middle eastern and African countries, India, China and Japan. If companies here truly wanted the best of the best, a large chunk of this country would be out of a job. But isn't that what most Republicans want? Shouldn't the best, most qualified person get this job?

I remember my coworker coming back from India and being shocked that so many citizens with Masters, MBA's etc. were relegated to working in call centers.

Supposedly there are more jobs being added to green energy than to coal but he ignores those too. :(

Yes it does. Racism isn't an exclusively white thing.

Racial inequalities do not all stem from racism. That's a shirking of personal responsibility and an easy out to blame everyone else. There was a time when you would be correct. Institutional racism is over. It's the law now and has been for half a century.

since youre talking about a time frame then you know jim crow laws lasted around 90 years and before that slave laws lasted almost 250 in the US..

So which do you think has a greater effect or lasting impression on a thing...something thats lasted well over 300 years (combining slave laws and jim crow laws) or something that happened just within the last 50 years?

You saw in real time the freaking president of the united states stand in front of the press and mitigate this...

I don't care if nazis and white supremacists had a note from God himself to hold a demonstration in that park..the history of this country is replete with angry white men gathering with torches and its NEVER BEEN A GOOD THING. That gathering was a threat to ANYONE not white and as such needs to be and has to be met with equal force. Anyone chanting racist and antisemitic slogans while holding a confederate flag or a nazi flag is A THREAT PERIOD. Its meant to be a threat. Couple that with an executive branch of government stocked with a man who who was sued in federal court for racial discrimination and men in his cabinet who have racist leaning histories themselves including jeff sessions and steve bannon and you have a very serious issue I don't think you really grasp the gravity of.

Those effers were shouting take america back....back to what? The era of 1950s and poodle skirts and sock hops? That was also the time of segregations and open lynchings too.

My first post on here yesterday stated that Nazi rallies should be dispersed and the attendees arrested if they don't. That was met with rabid foam. Nazis shouldn't be able to rally. They are a gang with a detrimental goal of death.

The left, which are claiming to be the moral superiors here, are right down in the pit throwing mud back while the party leaders on the left are trying to create fears of slavery and oppression. This only strengthens the opposition that are trying to create fears of xenophobia. Tearing down statues and flipping them off and spitting on them aren't going to help the situation.

It's Identity Politics. Politics in America is becoming ever more polarizing. We are expected to fall in one extreme camp or another. There is no middle anymore. Bipartisanship is dead. The assertion that you are either with one side or the other and your silence is agreement is false.

Identity politics is the first step to authoritarianism. In order to have complete obedience from a people, individual freedom of thought and action must be subjugated. Identity politics facilitates this process by convincing individuals that they belong to a single group that shares mutual desires and concerns. Flames of fear and hatred, already inherent to the individual, are fanned in a direction that suits the agenda of the party leaders. The party leaders then claim to have a solution, but only lacks the necessary power to make it possible. Desperate for a solution, the individual willingly hands over their freedom of thought and action over to tyranny. We've seen this countless times in history.

Practice valuing and respecting one another. Condemn the extremists on both sides without stooping to their level. This means we ought not to assume the worst in one another. Through this, we rob the party leaders in the world of their primary tool for gaining power. It's either a Civil War or a peaceful transition at this point.
