There's a difference between MLK and a governor of a state. A good shepherd doesn't incite a riot. A good leader is a diplomat as well as a problem solver.

No, the courts have the right to overturn those laws because anti-sodomy laws violate the United States Constitution and states do not have the right to pass a law that directly violates federal law. Those laws shouldn't have been enacted in the first place. What if a state has a stupid law, like anti sodomy laws, would the courts overturning that be bad?
Slavery was legal within the Constitution however until the end of the Civil War. It was wrong, but it did eventually get fixed. Segregation on the other hand is not and never was. We had a horribly racist Supreme Court that allow such a horrible thing to occurOr slavery or segregation or the right to vote?

No there isn't a difference. These are both instances of people demanding that the rights that are entitled to them within the Constitution are enforced and protected. You can't just ignore certain rights. Doing so sets the dangerous precedent to being able to do it over and over and over again with it being worse the next time.
So what you're saying is that instead of addressing the differences in policy through diplomacy, Texas should just go ahead and start a war with the U.S.?

I think you are the one who is ignoring things. Are you naive? Perry is rattling his saber.
"If you don't do what we tell you to do regarding tax dollars and stimulus plans, we'll secede from the Union."
What do you think he's doing? Why would they pass a bill reasserting that right?
Saber rattling. Treasonous if you ask me. And not what you want from a leader.
Btw, I live in Texas. Where do you live?

He is not saying "If you don't do what we tell you with stimulus money we are leaving" he is saying "if you overstep your authority and force us to do what you say we are leaving" - and he is exactly right to do so.
Proximity doesn't mean you know what you are talking about.I think you are the one who is ignoring things. Are you naive? Perry is rattling his saber.

I partly agree with you: I think that a certain portion of this charade is driven by a childish disapproval for Obama and his plan.In other words, it's "Screw you guys, I'm going home". Gotcha

I'm pretty sure his position has been "looked over" prior to now. He's just trying to pick a fight that will do nothing but harm my state and my country.
Will it have been worth it when Texans and NY'ers are killing one another? Will it have been worth it when our country is ripped apart?
You have the right to do alot of things. But should you do them?

Side-note: Let them secede. Who cares?![]()
No, but it sure does flavor my responses with relevancy. I care more about Texas than you do and when my elected official starts giving ultimatums to my country, it gets me worried.

I agree with you there Frnaklin...
I am not a big fan of Perry...he seems to be a typical politician...
He took advantage of the tea parties to make himself sound more like an ordinary citizen...
You live there?
Now I definitely support secession.
I kid, I kid.
Texas' secret weapon.Grrrr...
I got two words for you...
Killer Whales.
