Look at it this way if by any small chance Kid Rock wins the Republican primary, I think that makes the Dems odds even better keeping that Senate Seat

I think that Michigan will stay with the Democrats regardless. I would be keeping an eye on West Virginia, Missouri, and Montana as trouble spots for Democrats.

I think it helps that the Governor's race is the same year. Snyder will be a much bigger topic than it was last year.

And now I am hearing rumors that McCain may need more time to recover from his surgery, essentially postponing the bill. Which is bad for someone trying to shove a terrible health care bill through.

I think North Dakota and Indiana will be the most likely for Dems to lose. In the case of West Virginia and Missouri, I feel that Dems have strong candidates in both those states that increases the odds there

BCRA is dead. In large part because McConnell was caught giving empty promises that the Medicaid cuts really wouldn't happen.

Trump promised the same thing. But what got them was that no one wanted this but their base. People do want something better than what we have but the GOP aren't going to give it to them. All they have on their minds is getting all that money and giving it to the Mercers and Kochs and Waltons etc.

Not really. McConnell was promising the moderates, that the Medicaid cuts in the bill, actually wouldn't happen, which is a foolish proposition to take with how Congress has acted recently. But some of the Senators who REALLY want to kill Medicaid found out about it, and were PISSED. McConnell may have just severely harmed his ability to lead his caucus.

The full repeal is fake fight. It won't be via reconciliation. They are going to use the fact that the Dems are filibustering it to place the blame on them. Not that it matters, you lose a ton of moderates with straight repeal.

And if anything, I don't think his caucus trusts his promises anymore.

gop has problem in that moderates ike heller and collins would face tough reaction if the medcaid cuts happen.premiums would go up regardless.if pre-exsisting goes many will be hurt.old system returns in straight repeal.though trumpcare was no solution.though in reality it was more ryancare.

CNN is getting a little fiesty over GOP Congressmen trying to not comment on letting the ACA fail.

US congressman Dana Rohrabacher (R-CA 48th District) asks if rhere were civilization on Mars thousands of years ago.

Its unfortunate that uneducated people like that have any say in our space program and the running and budget of NASA.

He followed up the question by asking "if so, are they the ones who helped the Jews bury the dinosaur bones?"

Russia is paying for a real quality congressman there.

It is now being reported that McCain has been diagnosed with brain cancer.

I hope for the best for McCain and his family.

And hope for McConnell to choke on his absence.

Did he say whether he is going to retire from congress immediately or wait until the next election or remain in office until the cancer is debilitating?

Definitely looking forward to Kellyanne Conway claiming all libs are overjoyed at this McCain news.

I'm not fond of the politician he's become, but no one wanted this.

His office just announced that he has brain cancer. It sounds like they will be consulting his doctors before making a finale decision on whether he will stay in his job.

EDIT: It actually seems to be about when he can return, not that he is planning on leaving his seat. But he still needs to be treated for the cancer. Which would leave the GOP down one seat for quite some time.

I certainly have mixed feelings about McCain, especially in light of 2008. But that sucks.

I preferred him over George W. Bush back in the Republican primary of 2000 (I was for Gore). Congress needs some old Cold Warriors around like him especially in these troubling times.

It sucks about brain cancer, to say the least. Not good for anyone.

I dont like Mccain's politics and getting him out of Washington is no great loss at this point, but I didnt want him to have cancer. Especially brain cancer. Losing your mental faculties and memories and control over your body is a bad way to spend the last years of your life.

Nobody wants anybody short of a murderer to get cancer. As somebody that has had family members go from and a scare myself, that **** is brutal.

Median survival for this type of cancer is 16 months.

This is really sad. McCain, in his attempts to remain relevant in the Republican Party since his primary loss to George Bush, has compromised a lot of his reputation and integrity. But one cannot deny his 60 + years of service to his country and that he truly does, in his heart of hearts love it above all else. The man is a patriot. This is a sad day for our country.

Plus, he is a veteran and was a POW for 5.5 years and endured more pain and misery than most Americans experience in a lifetime. He refused early release because he wanted men captured before him to be released before him. And it took the North Vietnamese a year or more to force him to make a BS anti american confession. Yeah, Id say Mccain is a patriot.
