But those vfx doe. It's pretty crazy how far it's come since Avatar. You could look at a still of Shere Khan right now and assume it's a photo of a tiger.

Thought it was a very average movie. Nothing special besides the visuals which were breathtaking.

I feel the same way. Just don't understand the love this movie is getting.

Same here. I was so hyped after watching collider guys talk about it. I went in expecting a Pixar level entertainment. It wasn't even close. Hell it wasn't even DreamWorks level work.

So in essence, the problem is with you three guys and everyone else on Earth is correct. :o

The movie is fine family entertainment, but it's definitely getting overrated.

It's no way on Zootopia's level.

I just didn't get the emotion and excitement from the classic Disney animated version.

Also Christopher Walken can't sing.

*stifles laugh* Really? I mean I haven't seen this yet but...

Watch the latest Honest Trailer to see what I mean. The original wasn't exactly a thrill ride.

Well, after hitting 40/0 on RT they finally threw in the towel:

Critics Consensus: As lovely to behold as it is engrossing to watch, The Jungle Book is the rare remake that actually improves upon its predecessors -- all while setting a new standard for CGI.

Funny I was the exact opposite. Having seen The Jungle Book twice now, we finally got around to Zootopia. Liked it (The best onscreen usage of Jason Bateman, for my money, and some incredible world-building!) but nothing to write home about.

As for Walken... I mean... it's literally Walken playing Walken as King Louie. You either go with it or you don't. I get why that will be a distraction but I loved it to the point of imitating the song with terrible Walken impression the rest of the afternoon... and even now when I'm bored.

This. So much this.

so if this movie doesn't bomb the box office, Anyone expecting Disney to do live action remakes of The Lion King, Fox and the Hound, and maybe Robin Hood

The Lion King is Disney's Crown Jewel of all Crown Jewels. I don't think they will remake it anytime soon. Especially since the movie still holds up visually very well, and gets re-released every few years.

after this movie Lion King is happening IMO. it would be the same technology like here

I wouldn't want Lion King, but I would love Fox and the Hound done like this!

Yeah, if they can do the Lion King like this, they will. And yeah, I have heard some snippets of Walken's bit and you basically have to view it like him reading Three Little Pigs or Poker Face. It's just a thing.

God this post makes me wanna see Zootopia again. One of the best movies I've seen this year, along with Green Room and The Witch.

Good to hear the effects are a lot better than Avatar (certainly look great in the trailers). Will be interesting to see this level of effects used for other sci-fi fantasy worlds going forward then (including Avatar sequels).

If this movie succeeds as well as the technology, then a Lion King remake is on the table.

I didn't even consider a live-action Lion King a possibility until now. They'd have to keep it a musical though. The Jungle Book can get away with omitting the songs as long as they keep The Bare Necessities and some form of I Wanna Be Like You in there since those are the popular ones, but I can't imagine any version of The Lion King that doesn't include Circle of Life or Hakuna Matata. Maybe they'd incorporate more elements from the Broadway show.
