Just saw it and loved it. None of the voices bothered me, though I think "Wanna Be Like You" could have been staged better. Walken was great in the part, though, and I had no problem with him singing. And the CGi, of course, was breathtaking!

Hopefully I'll see it soon. I'm glad John Favreau is back on a winning streak though.

Saw it with my family. Some kid in the audience pointed out the Timon & Pumba cameo.

Saw it, loved it and my only complaints are that I ended up having to watch it in 3-D(which I universally hate) and there were a couple of bits from the cartoon I would have liked to see([Blackout]the elephant colonel/dawn patrol and in fact any of the elephants talking and the Liverpool vultures with they're We're Your Friends song[/Blackout]). Aside from that this was a magnificent achievement in filmmaking. I still like IM1 better but this was his 2nd best movie easily.

Basically if the kid is like under 5, they're not even comprehending what's going on.

Well certainly you'd be better served to show them the 1967 cartoon first before graduating them to this.

This weekend I was out of town with my family (my uncle was in the hospital and passed away Saturday), and we wanted to go out and see Jungle Book. We tried to go to the AMC theater (which had reserved seating and reclining seats), but all the seats were reserved. So we ended up driving across town to a Regal Theater, and the theater was so small. The room was small, the screen didn't even take up half of the wall and there were black bars on the sides of the screen. Plus, the sound quality was not good at all and I could hear everyone around me loudly chewing popcorn, talking, and making noise with candy bags and such.
Despite all this, I actually loved the movie even though the theater experience was one of my worst of all time. So I knew I needed to see it another time in the best possible way. This Sunday I saw it in IMAX 3D, and I was blown away. What an absolutely beautiful film. Everything about this movie was excellent, and I like this one even better than the original.

I'd say 9.5/10

I won't lie. I basically had negative interest in seeing this at first.

I'm glad to hear it's doing so well. I've always loved Favreau and I'm glad this is a success both commercially and critically. Looking forward to seeing it.

If anyone is interested Tim Ferriss has a great interview with Favreau that's available in his podcast series: http://fourhourworkweek.com/2015/04/14/jon-favreau/

The Jungle Book was my favorite Disney film as a kid. It first came out a few years before I was born, but back then Disney often re-released it's feature films in theaters before the advent of home video. I think my first memory of seeing it, must have been 1977, on the 10th anniversary re-release, when I was 6 or 7. I think me and my older brother saw it about 7-10 times during that run.

So seeing it this weekend with my kids brought back some terrific memories. I thought they did a terrific job and visually it's spectacular. My only complaint was the change to the ending of the film. I was also sad that they cut Scarlett Johanssan's Kaa musical number and threw it in the end credits. I hope there will be an extended director's cut at some point.

I will say that as much of an Iron Man fan as I am, this is Favreau's best directorial job he's done on a film.

Overal just one of the most stunning visual films that I've seen in some time:

I'm a giant Disney fan, and I definitely got the feels and almost shed a tear at how perfect the "Bear Necessities" scene was.

Favs is so good with special effects. And I am not just talking about Jungle Book. The CGI of the Iron Man armors in his films are noticeably weightier and less rubbery than everything that has followed.

Just got home from seeing it. Amazing movie to watch and an absolute technical marvel. The film is intense, captivating and simply stunning to look at. The CGI was about as good as you can make it and whilst not all the animals feel 100% real, it's probably as close as you're ever really going to get. Only real complaint is the King Louis sequence which I felt dragged the pacing of the film down, and the song just seemed completely out of place given the rest of the film was not a musical, it just seemed odd for Louis to start singing like that. But overall a wonderful film that you can watch over and over again.

Fantastic film. And I don't even like original The Jungle Book cartoon at all. It was up there with Alice in Wonderland in least watched Disney video tapes in my childhood. I went into this with low expectations and was surprised at how great the acting, story, and CGI was. Great rebound by Favreau.

I really am dying to see this, hoping to catch it this weekend.

It was a bit awkward how Louie didn't move hardly and it ended as abruptly as it began. Bit of an odd sequence.

In general the movie could have either done with having more music or just having the Bear Necessities and nothing else.

My favourite 2016 film I've had the chance to see so far this year. It's not without its issues that's for sure but I sure as hell had a fun ride watching it.

With the exception of maybe Scarlet Johannson, I thought all of the voice acting was great. The movie caught a lot of flack over its choice of voice actors and the sound mix of the trailers. I always knew it would sound much better with actual theater mix.

Also while pretty much all of the animals looked great I was continually blown away by the panther.

They made Baloo a Grizzly instead of a sloth bear in this which I could understand them doing for the sake of visuals (a brown bear contrasts with a black panther better than a black one would, also size) but then they specifically have Bagheera refer to him as sloth bear. Weird.

Also a small thing but in Spectre, Christoph Waltz's character borrows Sher Kahn's Cukoo bird metaphor in a monologue criticizing Bond. I didn't realize this metaphor was taken directly from the original book of the Jungle Book.

Got around to seeing this today.

I really enjoyed it. I don't know if I'd call it better than Iron Man, but it could certainly be Favreau's second best film, and definitely the best Disney live-action remake so far.

The CGI was impeccable. All of the motion capture/voice actors did a great job, especially Murray, Kingsley and Elba. You could tell it was Neel Sethi's first movie, but his performance improved as the film progressed (for example, he seemed flat during the scene where Shere Khan first tries attacking him, but he was fine during the confrontation at the end).

As for the musical numbers, I actually liked Walken's "I Wanna Be Like You". At least sang better than Mowgli did on "The Bare Necessities". :o But the best one was saved for the credits with Scarlett Johansson's performance of "Trust in Me". That should have been in the movie.

My only disappointments were the [BLACKOUT]underuse of the elephants and Kaa. Colonel Hathi's March was one of my favorite parts of the animated movie and I was bummed to see that not only was the song left out, but the elephants didn't speak at all. And I was really hoping for Kaa to show up again at some point. Maybe in the sequel...[/BLACKOUT]

All in all, it was a great movie and it really improved on a lot of what the original had to offer story-wise. Disney is just firing on all cylinders right now.

This is one of at least two movies this year to feature a black panther in a leading role. :p

I just watched it today, it was brilliant! I absolutely loved it! :D

If I am correct, the other movie is Captain America: Civil War. Zootopia had a black panther, but it was a secondary character that was used to progress the story. Saw Disney's The Jungle Book earlier today, the movie was good, but it was scary. Shere Khan scared me and my mom when we saw it.

That was just beautiful, I just couldn't leave the cinema till it was finished.

I absolutely loved Scarlett's voice acting, it was so sensual. I was hypnotised by Kaa myself. :oldrazz:

All the more reason why she should have been given more screentime. I was hoping for a scene between Kaa and Shere Khan like in the original. I suppose they can always bring her back for the sequel.
