I'm watching clips of TI1 on YT and damn, I gotta say the animation is quite dated by comparison to the sequel. You can really tell and this isn't the kind of thing I usually pay much attention to.

I noticed that after watching the second film and seeing how much more detail went into the character models, particularly Jack Jack. It's not as jarring as the differences between Toy Story and Toy Story 3, but it's definitely noticeable. I still think the first film's animation holds up on its own regardless but the second film is a pretty big improvement, as it should be 14 years later.

Loved it, loved it, FREAKING LOVED IT! This was worth the 14 yr wait and I loved just about everything.

I was pretty indifferent to the news that Incredibles 2 was being made, particularly after the lackluster Finding Dory but goddamn, Pixar came out swinging with one of their best films. This movie delivers on a level of fun that has been bizarrely lacking from the superhero genre in general. I know it's an animated film but there are some fantastically inventive sequences in this movie.

I love it.

I like how Brad Bird basically says he's not going to direct a Superman movie with the line "People just don't understand people who do the right thing because it's the right thing to do."

Which is true. If someone is altruistic I admit I'm a little cynical about their real reason.

Oh, good to know.

I thought it was good, though I am not really into animated movies like Disney and Dreamworks stuff. I only usually mess with Toy Story.

I liked the 1st Incredibles more because the environment. Villain was more fun in that one too for me.

I don't see how he's saying that at all. Not that he ever would. But I don't think that's why he put the line in.

$27M Tuesday. Probably another $42M between Wed and Thurs. Opening week should be right at $275M, beating the entire run of the original($261M). That'll beat The Avengers opening week by $5M for the #6 all time biggest opening week. Only TFA, AIW, TLJ, JW and BP did better.

You should listen to the guys on Double Toasted talk about ElastiGirl then.

God, I loved this.

Shame that after the reveal, it just went downhill. We could've had a great villain.

Yeah, Screenslaver really went downhill after the reveal. A shame. The character was really creepy and effective and the "twist" wasn't particularly shocking, I was actually hoping they weren't going to go that route but they did...Oh well. Fortunately the rest of the film is fantastic.

I finally realized who Evelyn Deavor reminded me of. She's like an older alcoholic version of Tina Fey's character from Megamind. :o

She's supposed to look like Katherine Keener with short hair but I didn't see it.

I didn't see it either. I thought the only glaring resemblance in the movie was Winston Deavor looking exactly like Bob Odenkirk.

Yep, couldn't get it out of my head. :funny:

Just got back from seeing it. I didn't really care for it. I don't know I'd go as far as to describe it as "terrible", but I didn't think it was one of the better Pixar sequels. Most of the movie was just Mr. Incredible learning how to parent, and the jokes were pretty dated. A lot of it felt trivial in comparison to the first film. Oh no, Violet's having boyfriend problems. Oh no, Dash can't do math. No where near as solid and tight of a movie as the first film. This movie just reinforces that Incredibles should have been a single film. This could have been a series of shorts or something.

Disney and the fanbase were adamant about wanting a sequel. Bird came up with something, I suspect reluctantly.

Grooster disliked this? What a shocker. :o

Yeah, that seems to be the case. For years Bird said that he didn't want to do a sequel unless he could come up with something as good or better than the first film.

Obviously he couldn't, but Disney convinced him to anyway. Honestly, the first film is just so solid and complete that it really shouldn't have been continued unless the idea is exceptional. This just feels underwhelming in comparison.

I still think that having the kids be older would have been a more interesting premise. At least they could have introduced new problems for the characters to overcome instead of essentially retreading the same arcs from the first film.
