TV Disney+

General Television
That's true but if it is 9 episodes long, that'd still be $225M, which yeah you're are talking about 4 and half hours, still feels like a lot.

I had 150M in mind but besides the salaries the production design changes every episode which could cost a lot too. It looks more value then How I Met Your Mother or Big Bang Theory for sure too, it really has cinema vibes.

I think a money sink people might be underestimated: redoing the sets and costumes for the different stylistic eras. Costumes and sets are designed for the manner in which they will be lit and shot. Changing that every episode means potentially redoing all of that, meaning that its less "one main set" and more "6+ vaguely similar looking but substantially redone from scratch" sets.

So, it seems that Disney bumped the age rating for a couple movies and subsequently moved them off the G-rated only kids accounts. Those being Peter Pan, Dumbo, The Aristocats, and Swiss Family Robinson, on account of all the racism.

So I'm confused,Fox TV show and movies and ABC shows are under "Star" category. Is this a region thing? Or is this similar to disney+ U.S.?

Star is the international equivalent to Hulu I think. In the U.S., Disney will utilize Hulu for the more mature Fox content.

Yeah, DisneyStar is Hulu for the international market, minus the other contributors to Hulu.

Also started watching Dinosaurs. Man, there is some stuff that went over my head as a kid. And some stuff that hits a little differently nowadays....

I'm glad next month adds my favourite Disney movies: Aliens vs Predator: Requiem, Bubble Boy, Judge Dredd, and Speed 2: Cruise Control.

On a more serious note, legitimately quite excited to see they're putting up a recording of a fireworks show. Hope that's something they upload more of.

Me, I continue to be annoyed that Disney+ Star is overseas only. No, its not about price, I wouldn't mind if Star were a paid extra. Its just, I *hate* Hulu. Their interface is awful, and has driven me away from using it the several times I've tried. I don't want to have to use their terrible system to access the other half of Disney's catalog, and that's on top of the baseline "one account and client is always better than two, all else being equal".

It would be nice if Hulu was another hub within Disney+. I feel like they’re not adding the Fox content on Hulu as fast as it’s international equivalent.

I saw the lineup for the day, when Star is rolled out in my country - it’s not so much, you‘d expect. A lot of movies, that are available in your country within Disney+ are missing - e.g. Princess Bride. Also no Jo-jo Rabbit or Shape of Water. I doubt we‘ll get Nomadland, when it’s released on Hulu

Hulu is going to be bigger than DisneyStar, just because more companies can contribute to it.

I see they are still getting some of their mid-older cartoons onto the service.

Up to almost 95M subscribers.

Disney smashes streaming subscriber expectations, boosting businesses hurt by Covid

The company said it now has more than 146 million total paid subscribers across its streaming services as of the end of the first quarter. Disney’s other direct-to-consumer platforms include ESPN+ and Hulu.

McCarthy also said Disney will not regularly report streaming subscriber numbers in future quarters as it’s now more than a year out from the launch of Disney+. But, she said, they may disclose some milestones.
