Disney's Frozen - Part 1

If they made a sequel, I would really hope that they didn't go the guy with fire powers route. That just seems like such a weak way to go. But I'd rather no sequel. While it is possible to, I feel a lot of the ways they could go wouldn't quite fit with how I feel about the film personally, especially the guy with fire powers one.

That looks like milking the cow unless they have a briliant idea

I think they should follow two advices:

"Less is more" and "Let it Be"

Or they could come up with a good/interesting idea for a sequel. I've never agreed with the notion that sequels are automatically a bad idea.

Not allways, but certain Fairy Tales should remain just that, not expanded upon in order to build an entire mythology and stories around it.

For these fairy tale one-off films... yes they are. Stories are complete. We don't need another Beauty and the Beast 2, Snow White 2, Pinocchio 2, Sleeping Beauty 2, Cinderella 2, Lion King 2, Tangled 2, Little Mermaid 2 or Frozen 2.

they already had sequels to Cinderella, Lion King, and Little Mermaid.

It was just an idea haha. I personally just think of all the Disney fairytail kingdom's I've seen, this would be one that would be fun to expand on.

I'd love for a more Elsa-centric sequel..........but the track record just isn't that good.

Why the hell do they have Giselle there and it's not Amy Adams's face? That's kinda stupid considering we know what her live-action face is.

too bad you can't enlarge the photo ( stupid Yahoo ), but.........

What would Disney characters look like as real faces??

if only they had included Elsa and Anna.........
The original image comes from at least 2 years ago (2011) so no surprise why they aren't included. I'm pretty sure someone at Yahoo just saw this when it was reblogged on tumblr a few days ago. :p

RE: a potential sequel, its a risky business as you've created expectations for it that an original IP isn't burdened with. And I don't mean expectations of equal or greater quality, I mean what people expect to see based on their own interpretations. Just look at Elsa; no romantic interest in this movie so now everyone has their own expectations for what should happen in a sequel. Some people think it unfair that she didn't have a romance and want it fixed, others think it was one of the strengths of the film that she didn't and still thrived in the end. Some people imagine her as being normal heterosexual, others see homosexual subtext in her story, but because there's no firm indicator either way, both are equally valid as each other until the sequel comes along.

Then of course some people wanting an explanation of her powers, or to meet other people with abilities, like the oft mentioned fire powers. I personally am happy not knowing why Elsa can create Ice and Snow. To me, it seems more personal to her character that she was simply born with these gifts, and that they're just a part of her, than if they were the result of a plot point. And I seriously hope they can think of something a little more original than fire as a power if they go down that route.

As for my expectations, since reading up on The Snow Queen, I've imagined a sequel that includes more elements from the original fairytale, like the evil mirror or the robber girl. But considering a large part of the success of this movie is due to it being it's own story, would that kind of thinking just hinder it?

As if crushing on Elsa wasn't bad enough. Now this popped up. What have you done haha.

oh boy......I don't think I'd be able to handle a "real life" version of Elsa.

talk about.........:hubba

well then, they need to release an updated picture set with Elsa and Anna........:o

and I've seen people say that Elsa's gay, too.

I can see that the metaphor is there, but just because Elsa doesn't have a love interest doesn't mean she's gay......

and speaking of "live action" portrayals, I've always thought this girl as Rapunzel is........:hubba

That's not where most people, including myself, are coming from at all. It's moreso...most other things. Like the constant references to doors in the songs ("Come out the door", "the window's open, so's that door, I didn't know they did that anymore", "Love is an open door" and then finally "Turn away and slam the door"), in this context being a closet door, as well as how her family and people around her behave regarding her powers (X-Men does similar stuff with this), "conceal, don't feel" honestly isn't too far from a number of things I've been told personally and a few other reasons.

Also, not having a love interest does not mean she's gay, but it doesn't mean she's straight either. And it certainly goes along with the rest of the things taken out of the film contributing towards that idea.

Anyone listen to the outtakes on the album? Most of them wouldn't have fit the final film but they're really good for the most part.

Oh yeah. I see all of that.

I just don't think Elsa's actually gay. If nothing else, because I don't think Disney is willing to go quite that far. I mean.....it would certainly make huge news ( both positive and negative headlines ) if they really did introduce the 1st openly gay princess. Maybe someday.......but I don't think that's the case with Elsa.

I just don't think Elsa's sexuality is the point. She's meant to be a broad metaphor. It's about suppressing who you really are, and then finally learning to let it go and embrace and love your own unique you.

That can certainly include sexuality, but it could really be about anything. Even Idina herself said she related to the character, because when she was young, she was afraid of letting people around her know just how well she could sing. She was afraid of showing off her talent.

Elsa is about being who you really are.

So she can appeal/relate to anybody. I mean......I'm a straight guy and I could relate to Elsa. I also saw myself in Anna. and in Rapunzel.

I think I'm in love. :D

Also, I haven't heard of people saying Elsa is gay, but the movie doesn't really paint her one way or the other. The constant door references in the songs are a nice touch.

I wouldn't expect Disney to ever come out and say that (at least not right now), but I stand by that Elsa is, though coded rather than just being upfront about it because they are still a business and would like to get more of an audience, including those that would boycott if they came out about that. I don't find this too hard to believe due to Disney's attitude towards gay days in their parks, which is essentially that they don't come out and promote it, but they allow it and certainly market to LGBT people (ex. the rainbow flag Mickey accessories that can often be found in their stores in the forms of pins, antenna covers, etc...). Supportive, but still trying to make money from the people who may not give them money if they were more open about their support.

I actually think it would "cheapen" Elsa's character if they came out now and tried to "retcon" Elsa as being a gay character. Like if the director or writer came out and said...."Yeah, Elsa's gay."

It's like when the Harry Potter author came out and said Dumbledore is gay.........after the books and movies were finished.

If you're going to push the limits, be open and honest about it. Put it out there and be proud of it. And let the audience decide for themselves.

trying to "hide it" by making it subtle is actually counter to the message of Elsa.

but that's just my 2 cents. :cwink:

I don't see how that's a retcon at all. It's no more a retcon than if she were straight.

And that's also untrue. Dumbledore being gay is part of the seventh book. It's not in the film, but we see his relationship with a guy when he was in his teens.

^ And Rowling confirned Dumbledore was gay after the seventh book was released. At that point there were three movies that still had to be filmed. ;)

I was actually a little disappointed that they cut all that stuff out of the movie. They kind of just left it out. But in the end, it really didn't matter for the story one way or another.
