I haven't seen Miyazaki's newest film, so I really can't comment on which is better. Personally, I think that his best film was Princess Mononoke.

Same here! I love Princess Mononoke.

saw it again today
loved it even more the second time :D

caught the Mickey Mouse short this time aswell, that was wonderful :D

The Wind Rises is good, even a great film, but in comparison to his other works it falls short somewhat.

This made me lol 'Elsa wisdom '

Starting in 2015, the output of both Pixar and Disney will double. Disney Animation will release TWO films every other year, while Pixar will do 2 annually.

In fact, Dreamworks, are already doing that (Turbo, The Croods). And other's will follow suit.

Since in a few years, animated films will saturate the market with more title, what does that mean for the noms for the Oscars? There will be casualties.

I can't see the Oscars wanting to nominate 2 Pixar films and 2 Disney films in one year. That would be a total monopoly and would destroy the chances of other studios of getting a pice of the action, like Laika or Studio Ghibli.

yeah...........I'm not sure if that's such a good idea.

you've got a good thing going on right now with your own Animation studio, Disney.

don't screw it up by oversaturating the market.

Saw this film today. Great movie. Loved the lead characters. And Let It Go is now stuck in my head. Love that song :hrt:

There is an explosion of videos covering Idina Menzel's Let It Go on Youtube, some even by guys.

'Frozen' directors, composers, and Idina Menzel reacted to the Oscar nominations

A big question people are wondering is whether you’ll perform at the Oscars.

I will if they ask me! I’ll be in the middle of tech for If/Then, but hopefully we’ll tech a part that I’m not in. I’ve already got permission if they ask—cross your fingers!—that I can get out there and do my thing and just try to really have fun with the idea.

I'm a bit worried that they won't ask Idina to perform, but invited Demi to sing at the Oscar instead. :csad: I'd go ballistic if they did not let Idina perform the song that she made iconic.

^

But it ismt demi version that's up for an award it's Menzels. So it would be wrong. And I'd be soooooo annoyed. As I'd love to hear Menzel sing it live!

God the Demi version is so lame.

Ugh, just heard Demi's version. I think Demi's okay but her version is such a downgrade.
If Idina sings at the Oscars, it would be amazing :hrt:

I'm pretty sure they'll ask Menzel. Disney has a history of using the original voice talent for their Oscar songs. For Beauty and the Beast and Aladdin they used the original voice actors even though most of them were unknowns.

I'm encouraged after reading this article about the reactions the directors and composers had with the Oscar nominations, specifically this part:

As for the Oscars ceremony itself, the songwriters said it’s too early to know how “Let It Go” might be performed. “It’s not in our control, but we do hope that everyone gets to see the amazing Idina Menzel sing,” Kristen said. The song was also released as a single recorded by singer Demi Lovato. Lee said she came to enjoy Lovato’s version as a “power anthem with a little angst in it,” but added, “For us, Idina is Elsa.”

Another part of the article that I found interesting:

After the duo came up with “Let It Go,” the script was essentially rewritten around the number, the directors said. “The song blew us away. It told a much grander story of Elsa. We were dealing with her as a villain up until that moment. That song set us free to do something different,” Lee said.

Buck added, “We were going for something bigger than good versus evil: fear versus hope.”

yeah.....Let It Go was a pivotal song in the whole creative process.

not just for Elsa, but really the entire story.

and I'm very glad it led to Elsa being changed to the character we got.

The concept of "fear vs hope" is much more interesting than simply having good vs evil.

I appreciated the fact that there wasn't a traditional villain in Frozen, well not in the mwahahhahahahaha I want to conquer the kingdom sense.

And I'd love it if the Broadway version gave them a chance to include some of the songs that didn't make the cut as well as add new ones.

A reprise of "Snowman" at the end, sung by Elsa when she's holding frozen Anna, would be sublime and very emotional.

They always end up doing that for the Broadway versions.

Btw, who usually sang the Disney nominated songs in the 90s? Wasn't it the "pop" star of the moment they got to sing on the soundtrack (which nobody really remembers).
