Disney's Frozen - Part 1

My guess is that they don't need to know how to sing, because their job is to meet and greet the people at the Disneyland, and they don't have to do anything else.

so.....iow.......they just have to be pretty........:o :oldrazz:

I do wonder if they are cast based on resemblance to the character, though......

Slightly random question but does anyone know if the ladies who play the princesses at the amusements parks have to be able sing? Is that a pre-requisite to getting the gig?

Not unless they're performing. The ones who do the meet-and-greets usually don't sing, but they do stay in character and they're great with kids.

My friend's son, who was 6 at the time, had a big crush on Belle, and we met her and the Beast at Epcot. He was so excited. She gave him a little kiss too. He's in high school now and would rather not be reminded of it at all, but it was so freaking cute.

During that same trip, he and his brother broke into a fight over a pen or something in front of Snow White. Their mother apologetically said to Snow White, "You live with seven men, you understand, right??" :funny:

We also met Ariel, and asked the kids where they swam here from.

I heard there was a 5-hour wait to meet Anna and Elsa over Christmas week at Disney World. :wow:

Lucky kid, somehow I doubt I'd get a kiss from Belle. Something tells me they don't do that with grown men lol.

Deadline has put out Friday numbers and weekend estimates for Frozen.

$2.0m Friday (+206% from Thursday) and $8.9m weekend estimate.

If the estimate holds (it could be up or down a few hundred thousand) Frozen will be at $347.7m. Using it's current level of week to week drops it will pass, or be very close to 350 million by this Thursday (it did almost 2.1 Tues-Thurs this week so around 2m Mon-Thurs this week is a good conservative estimate). After that it gets interesting, it will lose some regular screens to the Lego Movie but will be adding 1000 screens for the Sing-Along version. Some of those screens should come from existing screens being converted, but some will be new screens, it should at least be a wash, or even a small increase in total screens. $400m domestic is a real possibility now.

What's equally amazing is Frozen now has a legitimate shot at 1 Billion worldwide. It opened in most markets a long time agoand is winding down in them, but still making decent $, but recent openers are performing amazingly and 3 big markets are left.
Frozen is expected to pass $800m today or tomorrow.
It opened in Turkey and South Korea last week and both opened amazingly high, tiny Turkey will end up with 4.5-5m during its run, about a million more than Despicable Me.
South Korea is the big surprise, this weekend is looking to increase from last weekend and next weekend is a big holiday and is projected to stay flat. By this weekend it will have made about $25m and will make $50m+ during its run (smashing the record for animated movies there).
Still to come are

Sweden Jan. 31 (probably around $9m)
China Feb. 5 (a total wildcard, could be anywhere from 30 to 90)
Japan March 14 (less of a wildcard but still a big range, 50-90)

With remaining domestic gross and overseas holdovers the 3 remaining markets will probably need just over 100m between them for Frozen to hit a billion, which would make it the 2nd billion dollar movie of 2013, after Iron Man 3.

^ That's amazing news! I really hope Frozen will hit 1 billion when it's all said and done; it deserves it. Of course, after that it will continue to make more through DVD & blu ray sales, as well as soundtracks and merchandises. Frozen will be making money for years to come.

Btw, I'm thinking about getting the soundtrack through Amazon, but I can't decided if I should get the MP3 album or the CD album. CD album is cheaper, but it says that it comes with free MP3 version of this album. Why is it cheaper then? I just can't decide.

I'd say go for the CD album, if only for the fact it's cheaper and has a nice lyric booklet and folding design.

I'm not crazy about sequels to Disney fairy tales since it usually gets too convoluted, but Elsa's backstory does deserve some more probing.

Disney World. I think it's at Tokyo Disneyland as well.

cool! thanks!!

but how come I never see any of this stuff when I go to Disney World........:(

it always seems like the new stuff gets added AFTER we visit.......lol

It does read like a Forbes article. In that, "there is so much money to be made here, why AREN'T they making a sequel?!"

Yes, there is money to be made, but I hope that Disney stands strong at least on their animated features. Can you name one animated film sequel, released theatrically, from DreamWorks Animation, Illumination, or even Pixar that was as good as the original? One that didn't just feel like a hollow retread to make a quick buck?

That is why there shouldn't be a sequel.

Of Disney's recent three hits, the only one where a sequel could conceivably have some artistic merit is Wreck-It Ralph. Otherwise, leave them alone. The toys, Broadway shows, merchandise, video games and theme park attractions will more than bring in enough money from the brand.

Just saw this movie today. I loved it. I wasn't sure if I would like it or not since I don't watch many animated films but I have seen Tangled and Wreck-It-Ralph and enjoyed them both. This movie did not disappoint.

Did you happen to notice the little Rapunzel cameo in Frozen? Just as Anna goes out from the newly "opened" gates she stops right in front of Rapunzel for a second (now with brown hair).

Fans have been having a field day speculating on her relationship to Anna and Elsa.

I didn't notice that. That's a cool easter egg!

Toy Story 2
Toy Story 3
Shrek 2

It's all a matter of opinion but I thought these were at least as good as the first movies.

This movie has a few easter eggs and interesting trivia.

On one of Oaken's shelves is a plush Mickey Mouse

Both Idina and Kristen had auditioned for the role of Rapunzel in Tangled.

A live reindeer was brought into the animating studio for animators to study its movements and mannerisms for the reindeer character, Sven. Co-director Jennifer Lee said it was the best moment during production for her.

Kristen Bell stated that with this film, she has fulfilled a lifelong dream of voicing an animated character ever since she saw The Little Mermaid(1989) and Aladdin (1992) as a kid. When she was around that same age, she recorded a voice box where she sang a couple of songs from The Little Mermaid, including "Part of Your World". Her Little Mermaid vocal tracks were part of the reason why she got the part of Anna, as director Jennifer Lee said to her that if she hadn't recorded her own vocal tracks from Mermaid, it would've been very difficult to the find the right one to play Anna.

The characters of Anna, Hans, and Kristof are all named after Hans Christian Andersen: Prince Hans as in Hans, (Krist)of as in (Christ)ian, and (An)na as in (An)dersen

Uh, both Toy Story 2 & Toy Story 3 are just as good, if not better, than the very first Toy Story.

I do agree with you though that Frozen doesn't need a sequel.

I knew that Idina had auditioned for a role in Tangled, but I didn't know that both she and Kristen auditioned for Rapunzel.

Kristen would have made an awesome Rapunzel!!

But I'm glad we got both actresses for Frozen.
