Disney's Frozen - Part 1

It sounded the most like a song that a Disney princess would sing to me.

I honestly don't understand what people have against Fixer Upper(the troll song).

It is partially that the trolls are just weird. I know they're in the original fairy tale, but this was changed so much it felt obligatory to include them. Then secondly, it was trying really hard to be an "Under the Sea" or "Be Our Guest," but I think it just didn't quite work. Just my opinion.

I can understand that. I wish they would have done more with the trolls and given us some time to actually care about them.

I liked the song, but the trolls were just "there" to me. Like the rocks they were...just...there. Under the Sea, you felt the enthusiasm of the creatures trying to tell Ariel that she didn't have to long for the shore. With Be Our Guest, you felt how lonely the household items were and how genuinely excited they were to finally have someone new to serve and entertain. It just felt like the trolls were trying to shove Anna and Kristoff together, despite Kristoff's early foreshadowing mentioning he had friends that were "experts in love".

so, Frozen, The Croods, and Despicable Me 2 are nominees for the Golden Globe Best Animated Film.

I'm surprised Monster U isn't on the list, but hopefully that means Frozen has a better chance of winning. I'd rather Frozen win than Despicable Me 2, even though DM 2 made the most money.

Let It Go was also nominated for Best Original Song.

While "Let it Go" should win, I was somewhat disappointed (amongst other nominations) that "For the First Time in Forever" was not nominated. And honestly, "Young and Beautiful" should also be on that list. Oh well.

Yeah, I love For the First Time in Forever. Amazing song.

It's my 2nd favorite song. It's also such a joy to watch.

I love the part where Anna interacts with the pictures.

I also think the First Time melody is the "main theme" of the film, considering the finale music is First Time with a little Snowman at the end.

And speaking of Snowman, I actually think that melody is the prettiest.

It is very pretty, but intentionally very simple in its longing and finally sorrow. I think "First Time" and "Let It Go" are more complex and should be nominated before that. But the only song I dislike is "Fixer Upper."

Unrelated, this article about Frozen is very well-written, but I thoroughly disagree. It sounds not unlike people complaining about Mufasa dying in the '90s (though I was a kid, even I got wind of that "controversy"). I think the Prince being a villain is actually a great message to send to children about looks being deceptive on first impressions. But it is still a good read nonetheless:

Check it out.

I agree with you and disagree with the author. I think kids these days are smarter and more sophisticated and more perceptive than the author gives them credit for.

And as you said, it's a good message to send to kids. There are plenty of other situations, besides falling in love, where kids need to be wary of trusting others who may at first "look nice" or say nice things. So I think it's actually a good thing to discuss with your kids as a parent. And now they have a Disney princess to relate to that.

And even I, as an adult guy, can relate to the situation. As I discussed with PowerCosmic earlier, I found myself in a similar position as Anna, where I really fell for "my first", only to find out later her feelings weren't genuine and she was just using me.

and while the situation in Frozen was a bit extreme ( I mean......really......who DOES marry someone they just met that day?? ), I actually liked it vs the whole "love at 1st sight" thing that often happens in these fairy tales. It turned that convention right on its head, showing how foolish it is.

Yeah, I agree. Kinda like what Enchanted did, but still different. Cool avvy, btw.

thanks. I paid a visit to the official Disney Princess site. Elsa and Anna haven't been added yet, but I did click on Rapunzel's page. that's where I found the pic in my avvy. It's, of course, from my favorite scene in Tangled ( and that scene was just stunning and beautiful!! ).

And I took a look through her story book. The artwork is amazing!! I just love the whole "water color" style to it:

And I must say, out of all the 2d princess designs on the site...........Rapunzel sure is the prettiest!! :hrt: Followed by Belle!! I mean, Belle's design is stunning!! But Rapunzel's design is just so pretty. Is it no wonder that those 2 are in my top 4 Disney princess list? lol

Can't wait to see the official 2d designs for Elsa and Anna.

and another thing I liked in Frozen was that, even though Kristoff was starting to develop feelings for Anna, and even though he questioned her judgment in getting engaged to Hans so quickly, Kristoff totally respected the fact that Anna was in love with ( and engaged to ) Hans.

Kristoff didn't try to woo Anna, or kiss her, or make a move on her, or play any kind of "mind games" with her ( which you often find in these love triangle situations ).

And even before he does kiss her, he asks for her permission first!!

On a happy note, Frozen continues to overperform and will be No. 2 this weekend behind The Hobbit.

It is nice to see that this movie is starting to be hailed as the return of classic Disney by more than just fans. Well done, Anna and Elsa. Olaf too, of course.

Wow, that is some amazing artwork. And Rapunzel is at the top of the list when it comes to Disney princesses for me. :yay:

Wow, you're right about Kristoff. Perfect gentleman, that one(even though he can be gross at times). Didn't really take notice of that.

A chick on my facebook said that it was her new favorite Disney movie.

It is going to have good legs throughout the holidays. It is a great movie and something kids and adults alike for going to continue to see. I have already seen it 3 times myself. :D

I've only seen it once, but you can bet when it comes out on Blu-Ray, I'm gonna get it so I can watch Elsa let her hair down over and over and over and over again...........

oh, and the rest of the movie, too.

lol! I can't believe I called him Hans. What a slip-up! :doh::funny:

I watched Tangled last night too, with my niece. It came on Disney Channel.

Well, like Anna, your brain was a bit betwixt.......hence the confusion. :woot:

And it's nice that Disney Channel is actually showing these movies.

does your niece like Tangled and Rapunzel, too?

In a way, if I ever have a kid, I hope I have a daughter. Not only are princess names high on the list of names for my daughter ( Arielle, Elsa, Anna/Annabelle come to mind ), I can get her interested in these movies and songs, and we can enjoy Disney magic together!! :atp:

And maybe, one day when she grows up, she can voice a Disney Princess!! I'll be such a proud papa!! :woot:

If I have a son..........well...........I.........ummmmm.............

Mmmmm...Twix. :o

Yeah, she loves Tangled and Rapunzel. Frozen is her favorite Disney movie now, though, with Elsa as her favorite Disney princess. I love having a niece to share my love of Disney with, but I hope to have a son so I can share my love of superheroes with. I mean my niece likes superheroes(she made Wonder Woman bracelets and a truth lasso last night while we were watching Tangled), but I think a boy would love them like I do. :woot:

the girl clearly has good taste.........:o :oldrazz:
