Disney's Frozen - Part 1

The estimates for this weekend. Frozen is provisionally in 3rd place, although the very strong showing for American Hustle is separated only by about $63,000 estimated dollars, so that could change in the final numbers. But really, placement isn't terribly important, compared to making over $19 million, with a drop of only about 15%.

Hard to believe that Disney's animation studio is actually having a better streak than Pixar right now. Brave was good, but Plane wasn't and MU wasn't bad but not as good as the original. But Disney has Tangled, Wreck-It Ralph, and now Frozen. They are definitely living up to the Disney brand in a major way.

It's all about never forgetting your roots and being initiative to the brand. I do think as things get more successful and more money is pouring in, the more people get involved to screw things up. The more people to pat you on your back, praising you to the point where you've forgotten how it was that lead to the success.

Planes was not Pixar.

Planes was not Pixar.

It isn't? Then who made it?

Anyway, I took my family to see this movie today, and the trailer that I saw did not do it any justice; this movie is simply fantastic and amazing in every level. I'm now contemplating getting its blu-ray when it comes out next year. If you haven't seen it yet, you most definitely should check it out.

It also helps that the entire movie was full of moments where Disney was clearly mocking it's own clichés , particularly the one's that annoy a lot of people.

It is not hard considering they have the guy who runs Pixar now running Disney's studio as well. His biggest job the last half a decade has been to bring Disney animation studio back to respectability.

And that is why "Beauty and the Beast" and "Frozen" are the best movies ever!:)

And I am not even close to being sarcastic.

:highfive:

and I'd also add Tangled to that list. That movie is just plain awesome!! :o

DisneyToon Studios made Planes, hence why it was almost STDVD.

and I'm glad this is holding up so well at the BO.

this should easily pass the $200m mark ( and Tangled's BO ) by the end of next week!!

aren't they making a sequel to Planes already??

I too love Tangled. It is definitely in my top 5 when it comes to Disney films and it gets better every time I see it. :)

What do you mean almost? :woot:

Yep!!

I watched Tangled again last night! :woot: It's in my top 3 Disney films ( BB, Frozen, Tangled ).

oh.............and just thought of something.........

would anti-freeze be Elsa's Kryptonite?? :hehe:

I saw a comment earlier on youtube of a girl saying she was sad that Jonathan Groff is gay because she loves Kristoff so much. It's like... sorry that actor is gay, I guess that means that you and the computer generated character he voices will never meet, fall in love, get married and have babies together. Poor thing. :o

:lmao:

On another note,

I want to know why some girls just can't help but love horrible men, even in animated form. Man crushes a girl's soul, leaves her for dead, tries to murder her sister, and you can't help but love him. What in the world...

The big twist has been more controversial than I expected. A lot of people say that it doesn't work or that it comes out of nowhere/isn't built up enough. I'd like to here what some of you think about that.

Finally got around to seeing this film. Man was this good. Disney Animation has really been stepping it up lately. If they keep putting films out of this quality they'll rival Pixar for sure.

hey.......it can happen if it's true love........:o

I loved the twist. it's a great lesson for anyone to learn - kids, teens, and adults.

And there are subtle clues re [BLACKOUT]Hans' intentions.[/BLACKOUT] Like:

When Hans and co are raiding Elsa's palace, and she has that thug pinned against the wall, Hans sees the thug point his bow at Elsa. Then Hans quickly looks up to the chandelier before going over to redirect the bow to target the chandelier. IOW, he was planning to kill Elsa right there.

so, based on the current BO #s, what do you think its final #s will be?
