Disney's recent so-called "princess" movies (I dislike that label, but it's probably pointless to argue about it now) have made around four times their opening weekend gross. This film seems on track to continue that trend, at a minimum.
I think a lot of girts still love Hans because they don't want to let go of the preconceived notions they had in their heads about him when they saw the first images of him a while back. They can't accept that the character they built fantasies around is actually a big fat jerk so they just pretend he really isn't all that bad, just had a lapse of judgment or something. It boggles my mind, too, and I can't see how people still ship Hans and Elsa - he tried to KILL HER - but that's the internet for you!
I also find it a little disturbing because it seems to imply that these girls feel that violence against women is forgivable as long as the guy is really cute.
Saw this again last night with a group of people. Everyone loved it, and it was still amazing for me the second time. Everyone in the theatre was laughing like the whole time. They really enjoyed it.

and that's the whole convention Frozen tried to "turn on its head." the whole concept of "love at first sight" or falling for the prince just because he's hot or gorgeous. which is largely what happened to Anna.
as for Elsa and Hans:
I still think, as punishment, Elsa should have locked Hans in the dungeon and made him her personal boy toy........
Everyday, he'd have to personally deliver her chocolate, as well as satisfy other "needs."
The big twist has been more controversial than I expected. A lot of people say that it doesn't work or that it comes out of nowhere/isn't built up enough. I'd like to here what some of you think about that.
The key of Hans' "twist" is that there was no build-up, so the audience will be blind-sided by the turn of event. And it is the moral of the story, so I don't understand why there were any people who still believe that Hans is still a good guy and was just misguided or something.

wow!! The opening weekend was $67m, I think. So 4x that would be around $268m.
that would be great if it can reach that!! guess I'm just worried that it's going to start losing momentum and won't get to that #......lol.
However, it has been holding up fairly well, so hopefully it can get there. The next 2 weeks will be crucial.
fantastic!! t:

well, there was some foreshadowing, but it was very subtle. but the twist coming out of nowhere and blindsiding everyone, including Anna, was kind of the point. It makes the betrayal even more tragic because you don't expect it. [BLACKOUT]Hans seemed like such a prince, a nice guy, and quirky too like Anna.[/BLACKOUT]

Which isn't true at all imo. They lay the ground work quite well. They just you know were subtle about. I know that is hard for some to follow, but I think it is great.
They build up Anna's vulnerability and Hans' reasoning at the same time.
He is one of the great Disney characters imo. He is so perfect. His look and voice acting is something else. His little "I don't have a skull... or bones." I mean come on.
Frozen's trailers seemd to be focused on Olaf, but I admit made me not wanting to see this movie initially. But Olaf turned out to be a great character, but all the characters in Frozen are great so nobody really took anything from one another.
