Disney's Frozen - Part 1

and before I watched Tangled, I was dead set against 3d/computer animated films. I had always preferred the traditional 2d/hand drawn animation of the Renaissance era and before.

In fact, that was one main reason why I skipped Tangled in the theaters. I didn't like the fact they went the computer animated route. For me, I had always found the 3d/computer animated films "lifeless."

But, of course, after watching the film, I feel like I would have enjoyed it less had it not been 3d/computer animated. It really just made the characters feel more alive and real. Rapunzel, especially, really felt like a real girl, not just some animated princess. And that made her more relatable, imo.

Same with Anna and Elsa. I connect and relate to those 3 princesses way more than I ever did with the prior princesses ( with the possible exception of Belle ).

Really? I think all the films Pixar had released up until then were films that only worked in 3D and were enhanced due to that, like Toy Story and The Incredibles, with Tangled and Frozen i didn't really feel like the 3D added anything to them, if anything i think they would have worked just fine in 2D, if not better. While i really liked Frozen, i never found Tangled to be all that extraordinary, and i felt more connected with Wreck-It Ralph than those 2.

Yeah...GotG sounds bonkers, and I love Edgar Wright and Paul Rudd so that's that.

I hope though that these future movies will look better, cinematography wise. I didn't like the cinematography for Avenger, Iron Man 3 or Thor 2 (which was the better of the three). Cap 2 looks ok, but I hope James Gunn and Edgar deliver movies that look beautiful, and not just a digital affair. And trust me, I'm a believer in digital cameras but the Marvel movies are kinda dropping the ball. I want something to look like Skyfall, which used the Arri.

Maybe it was due to the pacing, but i actually enjoyed the cinematography in Iron Man 3

by 3d, I didn't mean the 3d glasses/3d effect.

I just meant 3d as in computer animated vs traditional hand drawn animation.

probably not an accurate use of the term, but that's how I use it.......lol

I know, i meant 3D as in computer animation too.

According to Box Office Mojo, 'Frozen' took first place at the box office on Monday with $7.9 million. Meanwhile, 'The Hobbit' added $6.5 million, and will pass $200 million sometime today.

Looks like Frozen may finally overtake Hobbit 2 as the #1 movie this weekend.

nice!!

another strong showing!!

if it can do numbers like that all week, it could have another HUGE week!!

and I see the foreign numbers have been updated, too. $243m international!!

I'm going to go out on a limb here and call this movie a success........:word:

I really wish I were able to see this in theaters. It sounds like I'd love it, from everything I've heard. I'll have to wait for the blu-ray though.

You now, a lot of people complained about this movie being in 3D cgi, and I was one of them. However, after watching the movie and seeing the attention to detail and how the ice/snow was rendered, I think that it was a wise decision. I have a hard time picturing this movie in traditional 2d and looking nearly as good/working as well, ESPECIALLY all of the ice/snow effects (I like traditional 2d btw).

awww........why can't you see it in theaters??

it comes out on Blu-Ray 3/18 in North America, at least.

The rest of my family's not big on spending money on non-blockbusters in theaters because they feel that they don't need to be seen on the big screen. However, poking around the theater site, I did just find that tickets are only $7.25 on Tuesdays. I'm sure I can find enough for that somewhere and take the bus in.

Would you say it's worth going to the theater to see?

And, if you or anyone else saw it in 3D, did it add anything or would it be fine in 2D? I'm really selective when it comes to 3D since I wear glasses already and don't have a very long nose so they slip off easily.

I only saw it in 2d, so can't speak about the 3d.

But, if you love Disney, animation, and musicals, it is absolutely worth it to see it in theaters!!

It does have a very "Broadway" influenced style, especially some of the songs. But if you like that stuff, I think you'll love this!!

Oh, and I'll add.......

Frozen was the 1st non-Pixar Disney animated film that I saw in theaters since Tarzan, back in 1999 I think.

I don't normally see animated films in the theaters, and I missed Tangled in the theaters ( which was a mistake ).

From everything that I saw, heard, and read about Frozen, it sounded like another winner from Disney. So I definitely wanted to see it in theaters........and it was well worth it!!

Can't say if I care for Broadway, as I haven't really seen any, but I do love Disney, musicals and most of their princess films (the only one I remember not caring for is Pocahontas) and everything I've heard makes it sound like one of their best. I'll probably see if I can go see it next Tuesday or the following Tuesday. I'll just stick to 2D because I can see it when my brother and mum are out.

I think you should like it. Have you gone online to listen to any of the songs? That may help you decide if you'd like it. although some of the songs contain spoilers.......so beware.

You'll probably like it though.....hope you do!!

I'd love to listen to the songs, since they're apparently fantastic, but I'd rather listen to them in context of the film first.

Thank you. :woot:

I LOVE the last two designs. :atp:

Frozen soundtrack is now the #1 album on iTunes, beating even Beyonce. That's quite impressive.

The last design is pretty cool. I like how the creatures on her coat are alive.

The last designs are nice, but I'm glad she got more depth for the final cut.

BO Mojo has the Tues estimates in, with Frozen at #1 again with another $7m!!

I saw it on New Year's Eve. The room is somewhat full due to the Tuesday's discount. I loved everything about it and it's cute and adorable. I can't wait to see the sequel if it's a box office success. The next part will be focused on Elsa's love interest, I hope.

I will give it 10/10.

I think it's kind of early to be assuming this movie will be getting a sequel.
