Disney's Frozen - Part 2

Disney really is the ultimate merchandising empire. K-Mart is selling these awesome wall decals.
I can picture these ending up on millions of kids bedroom walls.

Great article, but I have to seriously disagree with that one paragraph at the end of #2:

And wanting to go to such great lengths to obtain the throne of Arendelle, like attempting to kill both Anna and Elsa, is not diabolical? :whatever:

Once again, TrilbeeReviews shows a severe lack of understanding about what he is talking about.

Yeah, that bugged me, too. Any "leadership" Hans showed was nothing but a scheme to get the people on his side so he could marry Anna and eventually take over without any resistance from them. He proved how ruthless and cruel he really was with Anna and Elsa, so it's reasonable to think that if there had there been no chance of him marrying Elsa or Anna, he wouldn't have bothered helping anybody and maybe not even gone to Arendelle at all. He was just out for himself.

you mean......Hans didn't even like chocolate fondue??

that fraud!!

More good boxoffice numbers. Thursday # is $649,307, that's down just 1% from last Thursday ($654,820).

It also appears early matinee showings of the sing-a-long, early estimates have Frozen at #1 for Friday.

Disney's hit Frozen continues to make headlines in its 10th weekend in nationwide release as a new sing-along version of the film sparks renewed interest among moviegoers.
According to early Friday matinee returns, Frozen is No. 1 at the North American box office, where the sing-along is rolling out in 2,057 theaters. (The film's total location count is 2,754.)
The Frozen sing-along has been the No. 1 seller on movie ticketing service Fandango for three days, outpacing new entries That Awkward Moment and Jason Reitman's Labor Day. It's also Fandango's top-selling animated film of all time, since the company launched 13 years ago.

Loved it even more the second time. Though I wanted to throw my cup at the couple in the row ahead of me. They kept talking and talking. "This is the Oscar song", "That's cliche", "True love? Shut up, Disney. So cheesy." It was so annoying.

Quite frankly, I'd rather watch Frozen Sing-Along than any of the new movie that comes out this Friday. I'm not surprised that it retakes #1 on Friday, and I hope it will continue for the next two days.

Those were early numbers based on West Coast Matinees. Later numbers have Ride Along 4.2, That Awkward Moment 4.0 and Frozen 3.0.

What that means is it will be a close race for #1 between Ride Along and Frozen. You can count out TAM, it won't have a big Saturday increase and will get killed on Sunday.
Frozen will have a bigger Saturday increase and smaller Sunday drop. Both movies are looking at just over 11 million with those numbers.
Of course, even these later numbers are still estimates, we won't know the actual numbers until Saturday morning.
Assuming the 3 million for Frozen holds up, that's a big increase from last Friday when it did 2.1 million.

it's possible it can reach the $360m mark by this weekend!!

then, next week, surpass DM2's $368m!!

Go Frozen!!

I found this post from a Frozen fan called Portgas in the Boxoffice.com forum, and he/she really summarized the kind of effect that this movie has on people, and I think it's the reason why it's marching toward that 1 billion WW gross right now.

Well, saw it for the eighth time. It will be my last time watching it in theatres, unfortunately, since it will be gone from there soon.

How can this movie do this to an adult? Everytime i see it, i feel my heart racing till the point i'm afraid it's gonna jump out of my chest. And everytime the sensation is stronger than ever. Joy, happiness, sadness, everything is mixed in one unforgettable blizzard of emotion. I cry rivers half the time. It manages to grab your heart, touch your soul and fill all of it with love. Never have i ever felt anything close to that watching any other movie.
Also, this time i finally saw the end-credits scene, and it was charming.

Like somebody said here, it's a religious experience. Your heart is filled with love, the world appears to have more colors than ever, and life becomes easier and better. Fear is nowhere to be found, there's only care and confidence in it's place. I already said that this movie changed my life, and i'm in no doubt it will change and already changed many more. Frozen is an act of true love that will thaw a frozen heart if you let it, and there's enough love for everybody.

Next time i will only watch it on Blu-ray. A month and a half of waiting will be slow, but filled with fond memories and happiness. Hope yours will be too. Now all i want is for it to get it's rightly deserved 1b in box-office and a sequel sometime in this decade.

More numbers of note.

Frozen passed $3.14 in 14 days in Turkey, over a million more than Despicable Me 2 at the same point in its run.
Karlar Ülkesi

#2 again on Saturday in South Korea, but it's really close.

1- Miss Granny (수상한 그녀) 645,631 (1017 Screens/4138 Showtimes)
2- Frozen 624,879 (967/4409)

That gives Frozen 5,437,366 admissions, a new animated record for SK, and it's still going strong.
It should pass 6m admissions on Sunday, over $45m US. $60M total looking likely, although this was a huge weekend due to the big holiday there, numbers will be lower this week and next weekend.

I hope Super Bowl won't hurt Frozen's box office too much on Sunday, but likely all the movies will be hit by the biggest game of the year.

Frozen will probably drop 50-55% on Sunday from its Saturday number, which will be huge compared to it's normal drop of 30-35%, but most other movies will get hit 70-75%.

hopefully the sing a longs will give it an extra boost to make at least $10m this weekend.

I felt fun and joy in my heart when watching this film ( same with Tangled ).

and that's something that I normally don't feel when watching movies.

cuz most of the time it's all about explosions, and action, and loud noises, or depressing storylines.......lol.

so Frozen was very refreshing!!

That's a really nice post and accurately sums it up for me as well.

Disney CEO Iger: Frozen has restored our mojo

They did, however, import one key Pixar attribute: They put the director, rather than the studio chief or the animation head, in charge of the story. Unlike many studios, Pixar lets the director determine the arc of the narrative. Technology is used in service of the storytelling rather than as its starting point. "It was an executive-driven studio," says Lasseter. "Now it's a filmmaker-driven studio." It was a major shift -- and one that took a while to catch on; first used with The Princess and the Frog, a well-reviewed film with disappointing sales, it began to catch hold with Tangled (2010) and Wreck-it-Ralph (2012), each of which outperformed financial and critical expectations. "Disney Animation has done three years in a row of really great stuff," says analyst Wible.

This is why Frozen, along with Tangled and Wreck-It-Ralph, succeed where other previous Disney movies had failed.
