here's the video

she was nervous, but notices the musical track speeds up

wow!!

they really sped up the song and chopped it up as well. :csad:

and it sounded like Idina was hoarse or lost her voice.

I think that was the biggest issue.

it wasn't.........bad.

but they certainly did a disservice to the song by increasing the tempo and cutting it up and mashing it back together to shorten it.

the song itself is a song that needs time to build up to the end.

I'm still a bit disappointed with that performance. As far as I can tell, all the other songs were full versions at normal pacing, but the 1 song that I'm sure the vast majority were most interested in gets cut short and what was left was done at a faster than normal pace. This probably contributed to Idina's (or is it Adela?:cwink:) nervousness, although performing live at the Oscars in front of a Global audience was probably enough to put even a seasoned veteran like Idina on edge to begin with.

is that really true??

that doesn't seem very fair, if true.

maybe they had planned a longer/normal version. but they were running late so at the last minute they switched to the shorter version??

idk.

Not at all. Pink just had weird places she chose to breathe.

was Idina's performance that bad??

It was pretty ordinary. I do have a theory though as to why. You compare her to the other song nominees and she really seemed out of place, I think it might have something to do with the other performers being musicians and thus know how to perform in the type of environment where the music is focus. If I'm not mistaken she's from a stage theatre background where it's not just the music that's the focus, it's everything around the song as well. She might be comfortable doing music in a theatre production which requires some form of acting but it's completely different environment if all you've got to do is the singing part. Here it's just herself, she really didn't know how to move or what to do to be honest, so she just stood there out of her element which probably made her tense up, and when you tense up you don't breathe properly and thus your voice is affected. I know for a fact performing a song as a musician is completely different to performing a song as an actor.

She's done one woman shows before just fine, even had it recorded. She wasn't clueless how to perform.

Frozen worldwide 1 billion?

what?????????????????

thank god that its a good movie

i thought Idina's performance was great at the oscars :D
so happy frozen took home best animated film and best original song

Talk about timing. 2 Oscars and a billion dollar milestone in one day. Well done. Amazing that Disney now has 7 billion dollar films under its belt.

has Idina commented about last night yet?

you know why it deserves 1 billion? because the ''act of true love'' was not a kiss from Kristoff. but saving her sister. thats how you do it.

the whole movie was a refreshing change from the princess/fairy tale norm.

Not that I've seen and every article on her performance has been about Travolta's mess up of her name and jokes about whatever that was he had on his head.

ah.

yeah....that was a pretty big mess up on Travolta's part......lol.

is there any truth that they only shortened Frozen but the other song performances were regular length?

love your avvy.............btw. Raven!!

I think that was the biggest thing that threw off the performance.

I hadn't heard most of the others but the other one I did (The Moon Song), I don't believe was cut down or sped up like Let It Go was.

well if Let It Go was the only song that got shortened and sped up........

hmmmmm.............

Too bad the song was rushed and that horrible crack at the end. Damn my heart felt for her.

I asked on the Academy Award thread if other songs were shortened, too.

and one poster said Happy was also shortened.
