it's real, it seems.

I caught the cameo, but wasn't sure it was really Rapunzel.

but the Disney wiki mentions the cameo, so it must be true, right? :cwink:

You know what this means right? That they all exist in the same universe! I can just see it now. The ultimate Disney movie ever. All the princesses get together to combat evil and darkness with love and kindness. :hrt:

I'm kidding, mostly :awesome:

You mean like a shared princess universe??!!

:hmm

according to the Wiki, the princesses are NOT supposed to know each other. so, according to the Wiki, Elsa and Anna will be the 1st to know each other, and apparently Rapunzel, too, given her cameo.

speaking of combating evil and darkness with love and kindness, if we were to make a Frozen-MLP analogy:

Anna = Pinkie Pie + Rainbow Dash
Elsa = Princess Luna?

I still can't see why it was so hard for Disney to adapt this story, even now with the sister plot point added which should have made it much easier. I know I should just accept the film for what it is and it is a great film, but it is a little sad to see a fairy-tale favorite used simply to inspire what is now an original story that features trolls and a queen of snow. Simply had [BLACKOUT]the parents send Elsa away with someone to look after her and have Anna's memories of Elsa wiped by having her heart frozen by the Troll's Mirror. Have the Trolls be citizens of Arendalle who plot with Hans to take the kingdom back for the Trolls. Have Kirstoff be an orphan who's custody is given to his grandmother. Have Olaf be Elsa's only friend whom she has grown up with. Have a childhood lullaby Anna and Elsa knew as children be the key to unthawing Anna's heart and return the love she and her sister had for one another.[/BLACKOUT] These ideas are just some they could have added to the story.

While that might have been interesting and more epic in scope ( and I was thinking of scenarios where Elsa and Anna could have been combined into one character ), I liked the story as is.

heck, some critics are already complaining that the plot was too convoluted. which I just think is........:whatever:

But, I liked that the story was relatively simple and about the bond and love between 2 sisters. And that [BLACKOUT]there was no true nefarious villain plot to take back the kingdom. It was just one man's misguided desire to break free from the shadows of his older siblings and his betrayal of the love and trust of a sweet, gullible, innocent girl. I actually find that more compelling than some evil mwuhahah plot to take back the kingdom. Plus, the fact that the trolls were cute, cuddly, and good instead of being evil is yet another example of how Frozen turned conventions on their heads. The sorceress is not an evil witch/villain. The prince charming turns out to be a deceiver. The hardy, gruff mountainman character is actually sweet, caring, and sensitive. The curse wasn't broken by a true love's kiss but by the heroine's act of sacrifice. etc.[/BLACKOUT]

[BLACKOUT]Frozen was really a character driven story, largely about how the 4 main characters dealt with their own loneliness and isolation. Elsa chose to withdraw and hide to protect her sister and everyone else. Anna developed a bubbly, quirky attitude and wants to meet people and reconnect with her sister. Kristoff preferred the company of his only friend, Sven, ( and the trolls ) instead of people, until he met Anna. Hans resented his siblings and plotted to marry his way into power.[/BLACKOUT]

now, one thing I do wish they had kept from the original story would have been the raven/crow character.

The raven could have been Elsa's sidekick character ( since Olaf was more Anna's sidekick ), and she could have been Elsa's only friend while she remained isolated all those years.

And, again, that would have been another example of turning conventions on their head since ravens/crows are usually portrayed as evil.

Ravens are my favorite birds, and I find them fascinating creatures. intelligent, beautiful, mysterious, and mystical. A perfect companion for the Snow Queen, if you ask me.

ah well......can't have everything........

I actually thought Elsa would be gone from the kingdom for a longer amount of time than she was. Seemed like a few days to me.

Yeah, kinda reminded me of the Odinsleep in Thor. Everyone's making a big deal about "eternal winter", when the whole thing is sorted out in a few days.

Elsa: "Whew!! I finally got my ice palace all built. Now, I can begin my long self-imposed exile and live in peace........"

Anna: "Yo Sis!!"

Elsa: "Anna??!! WTF??!! And who's this strange man?? Don't tell me he proposed to you, too......."

Elsa: "Ok!! Drove my sister out and that strange man along with her. NOW!! I can finally......."

Hans and Co: "What's Up, your highness?"

Elsa: "Seriously.............."

Saw this movie sunday w/ my wife and duaghter.

Thought it was fairly average. It needed a better Antagonist..was sometimes boring , and the world and enviroment seemed very dull and too generic.

Not enough of the trolls, the parents death needed more connection to the story (maybe an antagonist. "Evil" prince came from nowhere and was just lazy writing. Also lazy writing in the ice hero..i mean where did his ice men friends go from the beginning?

A lot of unexplained things , like the significance of where the parents were going, Elsa's powers (i mean what are they mutant powers or something?) and how she was able to give life to some things.

THis could have been a great one with a bit more tweaking of the story. Animation was really solid though.

Personally my almost 3 year old daughter seemed to enjoy it. But as Ive sat through almost all of these princess deals..i found it fairly weak and disappointing.

Maybe even less than that. I do wonder how Elsa planned to live there - what would she eat? She isn't going to hunt and there was nothing there to hunt anyway. I suppose she'd just create an army of snowmen to go hunt for her, but then how would she cook the food? She isn't going to have a fire in her ice palace.

Life's full of tough choices, isn't it? :o :oldrazz:

If all else fails, Elsa's got her looks. Her pretty face. And don't underestimate the importance of BODY LANGUAGE!! HAH!!

That's actually a really good question...:hmm Maybe she likes her meals like she likes her Arendelle...frozen. lmao

lol... now this is hilarious because it's true.

Yep, my sentiments exactly.

I would've really liked her having a raven for a sidekick. Maybe she just didn't want to endanger a living thing by accidentally freezing it. :hehe:

y'know.........that's actually a really good point. Everything Elsa did was to protect others from her powers. That probably did extend to animals, as well.

Holy Crap!! Elsa was so scared, she couldn't even afford to have her own adorable sidekick character!! :wow: Just how sad and lonely was our poor Elsa? :csad:

oh, and glad you got my Ursula reference!! :woot:

A lot of unexplained things , like the significance of where the parents were going,
State business. Why does that need more explanation?
Elsa's powers (i mean what are they mutant powers or something?) and how she was able to give life to some things.
As to the latter, magic. As to the former, reasonable people can disagree on that one, but I don't think the story needed any explanation there; she just has them. I've read a lot of magical realist fiction, so perhaps that's why.
"Evil" prince came from nowhere and was just lazy writing.
Don't agree there. It's a pretty well-executed twist, and in retrospect makes his calculatedly bland persona and the fact that he agrees with everything Anna says look more obvious.
Also lazy writing in the ice hero..i mean where did his ice men friends go from the beginning?
I was confused by that, but evidently he was just tagging along with them. I don't really see how that's "lazy". Orphans and street kids weren't terribly unusual in that period.

I just assumed little Kristoff ( and Sven ) was training to be an ice man, since that's what he became when he was older.

Yeah, pretty damn sad when you can't even have animals for company.

And I watched Mermaid recently, so it's fresh on my mind. :cwink:

Anna dreamed of opening the gates and being up where they dance, up where they run, up where they spend all day in the sun.

But Elsa? She just didn't want to have any worries for the rest of her days. I suppose she was searching for a problem-free philosophy.

Okay, that last one was forced.

What you did there.......I see........

I'd be lion if I said that didn't make me laugh.

Hell, I still need to get a Blu-Ray player.

This is one of the few Disney films that I'd be more than happy to have a sequel. There's still more that you can do with this world, particularly with Elsa.

I saw it twice and every time that Let It Go song got some applause. That **** just hits you in the gut.

Indeed. It's so rare for one of Disney's one-and-done fairy tales to have this much sequel potential.

you can never have too much of Elsa......:o

I still can't get over how hot Elsa was when she let her hair down. :atp:
