Disney's Peter Pan and Wendy from David Lowry

I know, I'm just saying there's precedent in film for Tinkerbell to be a speaking role.

I think it'd be bigger stunt casting if they made Peter or Wendy black. Tinkerbell doesnt do much usually.

They won't do it but this would be a great Little Mermaid crossover if they keep the mermaids in.

Yeah a black Peter Pan would be way more controversial IMO.

I'm curious how this will be received since the 2003 one bombed so hard. I liked that one, tbh, but it doesn't really feel like anyone is interested in Peter Pan anymore.

It will be interesting to see if they can modernize this somehow.

The problem is they keep trying to make a serious Peter Pan. So parents take their kids and both parents and kids are bored to death. They need to make a fun Pan. Not a kiddie version that’s silly but a version that has a fun tone and smiling the whole time.

Are people really wanting another Peter Pan movie?
I mean if it looks appealing.

The only Peter Pan movie that was released that looks appealing imo is the Disney animated version.

"Are people really wanting a..." doesn't really apply to anything. I mean, you can make something crap that people really want or make something great that people didn't want initially. Did I want a 21 Jump Street movie? No. But it turned out damn good thanks to the execution.

So do I want another Peter Pan movie? Not really. But if it's a good take, bring it on. If it's not, no problem. It ain't changing my life either way.

It better be a really good take on the story or else it's pointless.
Joe Wright didn't manage to do that. Do the ones involved think they have a better chance?

It's got sword fights and pirates and a hero with powers so.....

That isn't enough. Joe Wright couldn't make a success. Not even make it all that interesing either.
I'm just talking base level appeal here. It's like asking why we see a million A Christmas Carol adaptions. Berry's characters have stayed around for a reason.

A Christmas Carol makes a fine actor showcase and can be done cheaply. There's a successful one every 5 years or so and it can be easily modernized for relevance. It's also constantly mounted on stages across the US around Christmas.

Peter Pan is expensive and the last arguably successful version was about 30 years ago. And it's not easy to modernize as a lot of the fantasy elements, pirates, Indians, and faeries, are not as significant parts of childhood culture.

Apples and oranges.

Personally any interest I had died when Jude Law was announced. He's a good actor, but he's not a draw.

Someone is always and I mean always going to attempt to make this a thing. It's just the way it is.

Every 15 years at least.

Yes. And there's been, at most, two successes as movies. At some point the finance guys are going to point out the reality.

Not even Spielberg could make Peter Pan a box office draw. I've heard it flopped big time. He should have adapted the real story instead of doing what he did (Peter being a father etc).

Not counting B.O numbers, the 2003 film is the best live action adaption. So far, no other try has had the same magic.
Not Wright's, not the TV version with Charlie Rowe.
Not even when Robbie Kay portrayed the character as a villain in Once Upon A Time, though the potential was there. If it was treated as a stand-alone film, not a part of a fairy tale multiverse and sharing screen time with a lot of other stories, it could have been the best Peter Pan.

I see that David Lowery is still attatched to direct I have not much insigth in the project.
He's cast someone new as the lead.
Hmm, he could have got back to Oakes Fegley from Pete's Dragon now that the kid is a more established actor. And still young enough for Peter.
Why didn't he think of that? Is it because of studio interference?
He's been doing two films with Robert Redford.
Yes yes, Fegley is no Redford, but still.

Just my thoughts.

really excited for this. Neverland has some really great locations
