Its too abd people cant get past the look of the character (which is fine, just different) and focus on the gameplay and aesthetics of the game, which both seem to be pretty solid at this point

I would have probably been able to get over his looks, if it weren't for the fact that he looks like the damn game designer. And to me it doesn't matter how good a game is, if the aesthetics don't appeal to me, I just can't get into the game. Especially if the game is suddenly shock full with punk influences and the heavy metal I loved is gone.

New trailer from TGS:

I'm glad he's less emo. He looks more healthy this way. And it looks better and better by each released video. Boss battles are looking awesome.
Gameplay looks fun, love the swinging
The older version skin will be available?

Funny you say that bc many said Bayonetta was a rip off of the original DMCs

No, it wasn't really. It was a spiritual successor to those and, though it had a far share of similarities, it was pretty far from being a 'rip off' of DMC. If anything it's arguable that it's the real evolution of DMC. Not to mention it was designed by most of the people who designed the original DMC anyway, so it's kind of difficult to rip off yourself.

Anyway, the game is looking pretty solid. I'm not too crazy about the look, but whatever, I'll deal with it. I've noticed they've back away from calling this an outright reboot, though, and are now saying it's a prequel to the original games.

Too many people here are still *****ing about Dante not looking like an anime fairy princess but an actual killer. :oldrazz:

An actual killer? Or just a guy who sits in the back of a British magic shop trying to channel his dead mother so she can confirm it's okay to wear black and be himself? Honestly, I don't really hate this look or anything, but let's not pretend like it's really an improvement over anything, because the old look was pretty neat.

I feel for ya feeling the need to comment, but the old razz smiley sisters sarcasm

I thought this was supposed to be a reboot of the whole series?

Oh it was... but Capcom suddenly realized how bad NT was pissing off fans with this new Dante design so now it' "Earth 2 Dante" and all that BS. I have a feeling the original (real) Dante will be in this game... if he wasn't going to be they wouldn't be showing brief clips of him...

I still won't be buying it. Just give me DMC 5 already.

I used to be skeptical of this game but I've seen enough gameplay videos to change my mind, I'll still probably read some reviews and ask around before getting it tho

that's.......so confusing.........

I thought "white-haired" Dante in the new game was what Dante looks like when he "gives into his demon side" or whatever..........

so like his "true look."

I didn't get the impression white haired Dante was a separate character......

now I am all confused........

White haired Dante is his "true" look... It's how he's looked since the PS2. Capcom, for some reason, hands over the reigns to subpar Ninja Theory and they change Dante's look to how he looks now... they also changed his over all story as he's not just part demon anymore... but half demon, half angel...

He's an "elseworlds" Dante if you will... So all these changes make even less sense because they just came out and said the game isn't cannon...

From the looks of things when Adam Lambert here in this game goes into his "demon" form that he gets white hair and his coat and whatnot turns red... but he's not the original Dante... Just Adam Lambert with white hair. However, every trailer I've watched has shown real fast clips of original (Earth 1 Dante) in this game... mixed with clips of Adam Lambert.

So... Yeah...

I don't think it's a reboot at all. A reboot is... well.. a reboot. Batman Begins, The Amazing Spider-Man, ect. They're made with intent to forget the past.

This... originally was a reboot, this guy was the NEW Dante, old white haired Dante was gone. Now they have back peddled and they're calling it an "alternate dimension" which means the original DMC is not being rebooted, it still "exists" even though this "new" one is out with a funny looking dude who calls himself Dante.

What it seems to me is that Capcom probably told NT to say this stuff just in case this game tanks, that way Capcom can bring out DMC 5 with the original Dante and pretend this game never existed.

aiyah.......that's all so confusing........

if you're going to reboot......then do a full reboot.........

but the game still looks interesting.........so I'm keeping my eye on it.......

Oh, I know. Sorry, I guess I should have used a smiley, 'cause I was trying to be tongue & cheek a little, too.

Also, as far as the reboot thing goes, originally it was tooled as a reboot, but I'm pretty sure that recent interviews about the game as specfied this as a prequel to the older games. I don't have a specific article to call up, but I know I've seen this distinction because I remember being confused reading it.

Oh, okay, well I didn't know this at all. You got any link to this by chance?

I believe on the previous page I posted a link from Joystiq where they talk about it.

Ah, okay, I missed it before. Well, that's...interesting, I guess. Makes you wonder why they didn't just make their own new IP, but I guess getting this attachment will maybe help it get out. Weird, but okay.

Well, Ninja Theory did make their own IP... Twice. Heavenly Sword and Enslaved. Neither were anything to write home about. I won't say they were bad because I know some enjoyed them... But... I didn't. At all.

And they didn't sell to well... So... what better ways to get sales numbers then to make a game in a series that's already popular? I don't think they, or Capcom, expected this much fan backlash though.

We don't know anything yet, but that's a possibility, imo.

Where do you see brief clips of him?
All I see is Dante transforming into his white haired self with red coat.

At the very end of the trailer, when New Dante looks back at the camera it's almost like "old" Dante is breaking through.

Wait... upon second glance it IS just him turning into his white haired self. Nothing to see here... Move along.

Yeah, that's what I meant by the attachment helping it get out more. Not sure on Enslaved, but I liked Heavenly Sword, felt it was pretty solid.

Heavenly Sword, to me, just felt like an uninteresting God of War/DMC ripoff.
