Do you think Chris O'Donnell would have made a good Nightwing?

I thought he was a bit old for the part of Robin, and as much as I dislike the whole Robin aspect anyhow, I didn't mind him too much. With the age thing though, I think I couldve seen him pulling off a decent Nightwing. Nice homage to the "sidekick name" in Forever, also.

Just curious if anyone's ever pondered this?

He would have made a very good Nightwing at that point in time. The franchise wasn't ready for Nightwing at that point in time, however...they should have cast a few years younger for Robin- but Robin wasn't the problem in Batman Forever. The tone and portrayal of Two-Face were the biggest misteps. The portrayal of Robin and his origin, were actually some of the strongest points in the film.

There were ideas kicked around to call Dick Nightwing in Batman & Robin, but it would have made the title confusing for the audience. In the novelization, this is touched upon. It was going to be used further after Bruce and Dick have their falling out due to Ivy, and Nightwing trying to become his own hero.

Would've made sense. And I agree about Batman Forever. Tommy Lee Jones could have made a really decent Harvey, too. There was one point where I think he showed a gleam that he could have done a good job, at the end of the movie when Batman reminded him of his coin. Other than that, not too good at all. Robin, for what it's worth, wasn't too shabby.

While Chris O'Donnel is back in the spotlight due to NCIS it's strange that the Batman movies dampened his career in a way.

One would imagine that the worldwide recognizability of Batman would make him a bigger star since he had already won praise from critics in Scent Of A Woman.

Yes. He had that Nightwing quality. A 20 odd year old bloke dressed as Robin is stupid.

Possibly, but not with the characterization that he was given in the Schumacher movies.

I suspect, looking at the costume design (change the red parts of the suit for blue, and Robin's costume was very "Nightwingish") in B+R, that was the direction the character was going. If Schumacher had continued it's likely Robin would have become Nightwing in the next movie.

Chris O'Donnell was a bad choice for Robin, let alone Nightwing. I think Robin was the best character in Batman and Robin, but they were actually all crap anyway

My biggest problem with Chris O'Donnell as Robin is that I felt that he was too old for the part. I also heard that he was also at one point, considered for the part of Spider-Man (this must of still been during the early-mid '90s).

Two-Face in Batman Forever was too much of a one-note character. I don't think that the multiple personality disorder/Dr. Jeckyl & Mr. Hyde angle was touched upon that much. He was ultimately, just another villain with a gimmick (i.e. a partially scarred face and a coin).

I personally liked Chris in Batman Forever but hated him in B&R.
