The Amazing Spider-Man Does a Lizard with no snout bother you? If so, why?

Does the lack of snout bother you?

  • It bothers me alot

  • It bothers me a little

  • It doesn't bother me at all

  • I actually like him without the snout

I know this doesn't really matter, but RIM did confirm that it was a leaked promo image.

Let me reword what I said.
His face looks more human from the front... not the side.

Haha, ok, yeah, I get ya. I actually brought this up a couple days ago...wondering about the idea that the artists purposefully designed the lizard so that depending on the angle you look at him, he looks more human or more lizard-like. I like the idea, but if the promo art is accurate for the "human side", I'd have liked them to go at the design a few more times.

I can see it being the same now. The difference in side/ front is actually a pretty cool idea. It'd probably be better in motion.

I don't think anyone is arguing that. I'm not. My point is just that an image used for promotion isn't always accurate. You can look at nearly any movie for evidence of that. Look at Luke - and especially Leia - in this promo art for Star Wars:
Star-Wars-Movie-Poster-1977.jpg

We also don't know if Sony even intended to use it in an official capacity. For all we know, it could have been one tossed out. I doubt that, but my point is that we don't know for sure. When we DO know that it is an accurate, officially released image, I'll shuddup :)

Still doesn't address the fact that the mouth in the blurry pic from the comic con pic looks three times bigger than the one in the promo/concept/whateverthehellyouwanttocallititdoesn'treallymatter art. None of you have yet to even touch on that.

Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat?

Apologies if it's a little hard to see the lines.

I'd love to see that PEZ dispenser from another angle.

....THAT'S a sentence I never thought I'd say.

Knock off the hostility, ALL OF YOU! Or else I step in!!!

"Hurrr durrr?" Really? Wow.

Yes. Hurr durr. Cause that's all I see when I read your posts.

I like how you've ignored my quotes from RIM on this.

No I haven't. I've actually provided a counter RIM quote for everyone you have provided.

But he DOES go through a gradual transformation. These SET PHOTOS PROVE that the movie depicts a gradual transformation in some fashion:

Side-Effect=/=Transformation. I don't turn into a **** monster when I get diarrhea from Mexican food.

If you knew anything about the production of this film, you'd know that Ifans wears a combination of make up and cardboard box in order to attain the effect of the Lizard.

I'm not saying that showing Connors evolve into the Lizard as a huge plot point. In fact, like you say: it's NOT. So even by your own admission, its understandable that it might not be mentioned in a panel.

No it's not.

You're not giving me an answer, you're trying to justify your theory...

Again, Sony DID NOT RELEASE THE IMAGE. IT IS NOT AN OFFICIAL PROMO IMAGE, and it WON'T BE UNTIL SONY SAYS IT IS. For all we know, Sony could have had NO intention of using that particular image. I know I wouldn't Its poorly composed, a boring pose...it is NOT something I would use to try and promote my movie. But that doesn't even matter because - for the sake of argument - promo art isn't always accurate to the film. Even RIM - whom you praise as being so trustworthy (so long as it suits your needs) says this isn't what he saw in the film.

If it wasn't intended ot be released, RIM wouldn't have expressed his disapproval with the person that leaked it. He has not once stated, "Yeah this was promo art, but not anything that was going to be used." he said, "This is promo art."

He also could never completely clarify what was different about it. All he said was, "I dunno man, but the Lizard we saw in the footage was scarier." lol "As long as it suits your needs." yeah, you mean how exactly how you're utilizing his quotes even though I'm countering every single one?

Wow, what are you, twelve? Let me know, seriously. I'd like to know if I'm wasting my time arguing with a child or an adult acting like one.

No, I just have zero patience for people that are dead wrong about something that's been beaten to death since this piece of promo art was released.

That just earned you a warning.

The mouth in the picture on the left fills up around 1/3 of the red frame and the mouth on the far right fills up the entire frame....
Are you trying to say that his mouth can stretch out that far? My apologies, I'm just not clear on what you're trying to say here.

Yes. He is.

My opinion is the end all be all because everyone that has seen the Lizard already has stated that the only difference is that he is bigger. Not one person has said his face is different or that there was a hint of multiple forms. I don't understand the disconnect. It's really not hard to use derivative thinking here. If there was another form, we would have heard about it already. I'll eat my dog if we see a substantially different Lizard in the trailer. Sure, h'll be different as a moving creature, but that promo art is more or less going to be what we get. When has anyone ever been right about the whole, "Oh well maybe he changes...", idea?

Spider-Man's boots:

Stunt man wears them for protection

Spider-Man's costume:

Wrestling suit.

Nope.

 Forget it. This crap has gone on way too long.

Cannot wait for the goddamn trailer so this **** gets cleared up.

I deleted that section from my post because Spider-fan already took care of what I was talking about

Um...alright? I really did want to understand what point you were trying to make but whatever.

The only point that needs to be made is that, once again, everyone who has seen the SDCC footage has said that the Lizard in the promo art is the same Lizard they saw at SDCC besides his size. Nothing else needs to be said.

It's not your place to make ultimatums on what can and cannot be discussed.
At no point have I tried to stir up conflict about this, nor have I resorted to arguing or name-calling. I've simply stated that I don't see how that promo art correlates with what we saw of the lizard in the trailer, and it's completely within my rights to state that and discuss it.
Here's my quote a few posts ago:

If that piece of concept art is indeed the final look, why is it that in the blurry screen shot from the trailer the lizard clearly has a MUCH larger mouth and a MUCH larger neck?
Someone please clear that up for me, cause I'm sincerely confused.
Everything I've said stems from confusion, not a desire to start conflict. But whatever. If it's honestly that big of a deal I'll drop it but at no point do I feel like I stepped over the line and was trolling this thread in the slightest.

Wat. We haven't seen the Lizard. People who have seen the SDCC footage have and state there is no difference besides his size. I'm absolutely mind blown at how hard this is to figure out.

It will be hilarious if The Lizard isn't even in the trailer, which is also possible. :funny:

We've seen blurry pics of the footage. And I don't see how that correlates to the promo art that was released. That's the point I was making.
You disagree with me? Fine. Bewildered as to why I'm confused? Also fine. Just don't be condescending and patronizing about it. Like I said, you were this exact same way with me the other day when you were adamant that the lizard had no snout.....and look how that turned out.

You actually haven't adequately countered anything I've said. Simply responding with half-thought out sentences and juvenile antics doesn't equate to counter in a thoughtful debate.

Side-Effect=/=Transformation. I don't turn into a **** monster when I get diarrhea from Mexican food.

This logic doesn't make sense. And I'm not even trying to be sarcastic. Connors' transformation into the Lizard IS a side effect of his testing. The picture's I've posted show that we're seeing his transformation, that it's not a "wham bam thank you ma'am" incident done in once scene.

(On an unrelated note, does anyone know if Connors is going to transform once, or will there be a more jekyl and hyde back-and-forth thing going on?)

If you knew anything about the production of this film, you'd know that Ifans wears a combination of make up and cardboard box in order to attain the effect of the Lizard.

First off, the photos we have of the Lizard from comic con are decidedly fully CGI creations (viewers even mention the CGI model not being complete there). Those images are NOT Ifans. He even says in an interview that he's been doing mo-cap for the Lizard. That knowledge, in conjunction with the set photos of him, suggests that they are using practical effects/make up for the "proto-Lizard" stuff (see the photos I included in my previous post to get what I mean with that term), and then a CGI character for the actual Lizard, whether its the promo art or something more.

If it wasn't intended ot be released, RIM wouldn't have expressed his disapproval with the person that leaked it.

THAT'S not true at all. An employee breaking their Non-Disclosure Agreement by stealing an image from a company is wrong, regardless of the companies' intent for the image, and is worthy of ANYONE'S disapproval (well, aside from those of us starving for info).

He has not once stated, "Yeah this was promo art, but not anything that was going to be used." he said, "This is promo art."

Would he even have that much knowledge of Sony's advertisement dept? Look, I'm NOT SAYING it is NOT promo art. My whole point is that since is was LEAKED instead of being officially released, we can't be 100% certain that it is truly indicative of the final Lizard. (Again, look at RIM's admittance that not all promo art is accurate. Heck, look at the Star Wars poster I showed earlier). Is it an image Sony intends to use? Probably. But without Sony saying so, whatever conclusion we come to is conjecture. NOT fact. You're trying to turn this argument with the promo image into something it's not.

He also could never completely clarify what was different about it. All he said was, "I dunno man, but the Lizard we saw in the footage was scarier."

You and I both know that is not "all he said". He made it a point to say that it was quite different. Could he be wrong? Sure. Would we all like clarification here? Absolutely. But we can only take him for his word. He hasn't steered us wrong yet.

yeah, you mean how exactly how you're utilizing his quotes even though I'm countering every single one?

Are you? I really haven't noticed. Typically speaking, if you have to say something like that to try and prove a point, the point you're trying to prove isn't working.

No, I just have zero patience for people that are dead wrong about something that's been beaten to death since this piece of promo art was released.

Well that answers my question then. Don't bother replying unless you mature a little bit, ok? You're bringing this thread down with your hostility. Thanks.:yay:

Okay guys, stop trying to "handle hostility" by being hostile. Either you ALL mature, or I dish out infractions.
