Does anybody ever have Lucid Dreams?

I've latley gained an interest in the concept. Has anybody been successful in training themselves to have them?

A better question; if you could only lucid dream or regular dream which would you choose and why?

I dreamed I got in a fight and woke up with a black eye one time. Does that count?

So wait, did you dream that you dreamt that you got into a fight and woke up with a black eye or did you dream that you got into a fight and woke up with a black eye or did you dream that you got into a fight with a black guy or did you dream that you got into a fight and woke up with a black guy?

"did you dream that you got into a fight and woke up with a black eye"

that one. I didn't realize my post was so confusing.

I used to have them all the time.... while on massive amounts of cough syrup. For real though you do have them on it Ive just never been able to do it sober and havent had one in like 8 years. They were really fn kool on cough syrup though especially when you can manipulate them freddy kruger style

ummmmm, what?

K, I had a dream I lived in a post apocolyptic world, which was ruled by Road Warrior rejects. And some evil fat guy that looked like John Candy.

Anyhoo, since this was the future, when we got the weapons, we can store the ammo, or weapons in a flash drive of sorts....and then plug them into the guns, so you couldnt run out.

So then big robots attack, and I watch this Dracula 3d super experience () with Brian Cox as Dracula.....then robots destroy that, so I got pissed, and shot them with a nuke.

So then then I have to get my family (I have a sister apperently...and a father that looks like Gary Oldman). So anyhoo, I have to travel through snow, and crap, and I got bored so I started killing the Road Warrior rejects. Then they caught me, so I told them I can do this special trick with my piss....(I'm not kidding you.) Then I pissed all over them and got away.

Then I blew up the last robot, killed the John Candy villain, and watched Alien.

Then I woke up and had to piss.

WTF indeed.

I have a couple of friends who used to 'robe' a lot. As for the topic at hand, I can't remember the last time I had a lucid dream. They're great when you get them though, just wish it happened more.

I once had a lucid dream and i dreamed that I was dying. So I Concentrated on being awake, and I had a false awakning.

Hahahaha was this meant as a joke? Im not sure but it made me chuckle so Im taking it as so

I also had a dream, where I went down to my kitchen, there was an Alien Queen just chillin in my kitchen....so it became my pet.

Whenever I have them, it's been like a Star Trek episode when the characters realize they're trapped in an illusionary/alternate world. They start out as regular dreams, then uncover any inconsistencies/absurdities in the dream: Wait, this doesn't make sense ... I'm not still in high school ... OR ... I don't still live in that house ... OR ... that's not what that person looks like ... and so on. Once I have my lucid moment, and realize I'm dreaming, I usually walk away from the situation (in the dream) and then wake up. In other words, I haven't learned how to take advantage of the lucid dreams when I have them.

In rare instances when I have night terrors, I've learned to recognize that I am still sleeping, that what I'm experiencing isn't real. I'm not sure those are the same as lucid dreams, but it is similar.

I've tried on a few occasions, with varying degrees of success. My problem is that if I find myself straining in a dream, it usually means I'm about to wake up, and even when I do become aware on occasion, I still can't always get things to happen. In terms of actually inducing lucid dreaming, when I try I go with the "realize you're in a dream when you see your hands" thing.

And anyway, I prefer "regular dreams". More fun if you're not actually in control.

edit: Speaking of dreams, I've hit 10,000 posts!

There are chemicals in pizza that cause a negative reaction on the imaginative centers of the brain. As a result, it can cause nightmares and sleeplessness.
Oh.....but it wasnt a nightmare though. :o

LMAO to the raping dream.

Oh, well it's not always nightmares. Sometimes it's dreams that make you say WTF when you wake up. That's what Scrooge had for dinner before he met those ghosts.

Ok so I read this whole thread ,but I keep a dream journal also. It mainly worked when I was 14 or so but I am not having dreams lately (like 3 years) . It is really buggin me cause I know it is possible making yourself dream but I never knew how or never knew it was call 'Lucid Dreaming'. I like normal dreams because it reveals who you are in a strange way. For example I kept having a dream about a mystery girl for an odd reason. And some that I somewhat controlled was me being my own hero and such because I am a big Superhero geek. I stopped my dream journal not too long ago because I can't remember them because I wake up in the middle of the night but I was hoping I could make myself dream again and you guys helping me. I tried the way of telling myself what I wanted to dream by listening to the Batman Beyond score to bed and imagining my own fantasy but that sadly didn't work. So could someone give me a short version of the best way to 'Lucid Dream'? This will be awesome because I always loved dreaming because I would reveal about me who I am without telling myself it. I remember I had a dream once that I was Batman and I had rocket boots and I was about to take off and my cape caught on fire haha!

But enough of my randomness, how long does it take to get someone to Lucid Dream?

I mainly want to know how to get myself to dream ,because sadly I haven't in a good while :(
