Does anyone else hate Christmas?

Wahhh wahhh wahhhhh.....people are happy around me....wahhhh wahhhh........

:funny:

Some people do have the "A lot of people like something and celebrate it? Brain washed zombies!" mentality. Halloween is my favorite holiday and I consumerism'd so hard that Christmas is gonna feel it.

how about martin luther king day, st patricks day, 420 day, cinco de mayo, 4th of july, labor day, and colombus day?

MLK Day I have little issue with. There's no expectations and you get the day off work/school to commemorate a real hero. Similarly, you'll rarely run into Labor Day/Memorial Day/Presidents Day themed merchandise for decorating one's lawn. Plus they are all legitimate causes, so I say why not?

Contrast with Columbus day that celebrates a dude that barely deserves a place in the history books let alone a holiday. Rat bastard. Screw columbus day.

4/20, 5/5, and st patty's, etc. are very niche holidays that (at least in the States) are seemingly just excuses to not be sober that weekend. I'm not necessarily a fan, but I won't lay into them that much.

And Independence Day? Any nation's independence is totally acceptable reason to celebrate. I do like fireworks. But I hate country music. lol

Can't forget the best holiday May the 4th be with you!

well, some of those are major holidays, so you're not begrudgin with all of em. :yay:

I didn't used to enjoy Christmas, was just another day, then my little girl came along and now it's completely different. I now am excited for it, love visiting the Christmas shops, seeing her little face light up when she's looking at all the sparkly stuff.

i love christmas what is this nonsense thread

Kids can certainly change one's perspective on holidays. I barely noticed Halloween for nearly a decade when I was a 20-something. Then I had little symbiotes, and now I look forward to helping them design costumes and taking them ToTing. It's an entirely different experience now.

Not gonna lie, I even like (some) Christmas music. There's just something about the time of year (even as early as pre-Thanksgiving) that makes me feel all festive and happy, and I think the music's a big part of that. But then, I don't currently have any especially bad memories to associate with the season either, knock on wood. I'm sure that would change my perspective on it dramatically if I did.

No. How anyone can hate Christmas, I cannot fathom.

I don't do Christmas before it's time. I have no use for people that are decorating now.

To everything there is a season, and Christmas season isn't here yet.

I like some aspects, am indifferent to other aspects.

I don't look forward to it but I don't hate it either.

Christmas is my favorite holiday. I just took down the Halloween decorations yesterday, I'll wait until after Thanksgiving to put up Christmas stuff but my stuff will get put out as early as possible so the season lasts as long as possible. I live to make my children smile.

I love Christmas. I love giving.

I'm not much of a holiday person, but there is one thing I love about Christmas.
Going out in the evening, the snowy scenery. Everything is so calm and peaceful. People look genuinely happy and smiling and aren't in a rush to get places as usual. :drl:

heard christmas music on the radio for the first time today this year

i personally don't think it should be played until december. no respect for thanksgiving

I love getting together to see my family for the holidays. As a dude with no car that lives about an hour and a half away from most of my immediate family, it's nice to know that at the end of the year I get to see everyone and eat some good food.

I used to enjoy Christmas. Being raised by my Grandma, it was what I used to look forward to because she would always go out of her way to make sure it was special for me and my brother. But I think the older I got, the more I began falling out of love with it. It's always a painful time of the year for me. I would much rather be working that day.

are you and your brother close? you could try to carry on the tradition?

Yeah, me and him are still pretty close. He actually is very much into the holidays, but that's probably because it's around the same time as his birthday. He seems to have a lot of spirit in a way that I don't anymore. If I did carry on the tradition, it most likely would be for him.

Sounds like a good idea to me, Bran. Some of the cheer might rub off on you, who knows? ;)

My family has made me celebrate the past two Christmases, when I said I'd rather be doing other things. It was quick and pleasant enough!

Yeah, maybe things will turn around. It's nice that you made it through the holidays.

Sometimes the Xmas season gets annoying but then the actual day gets here and I get to see my kids' absolute joy as they open their gifts and everything is okay.

I like Christmas itself but I find gettogethers quite awkward and uncomfortable. I've deliberately booked a trip to Hong Kong over this period to avoid it. I can't wait, it's going to be so gorgeous!

*unbeknownst to Silvermoth, his family has also booked a trip to Hong Kong to surprise him. the Hype film crew will be on the scene to capture this holiday moment as it unfolds*

Haha! I just told my parents I wouldn't be home this year in favor of a trip to Germany/Denmark/The Netherlands. Cannot friggin wait.

I hope it doesn't snow here (Netherlands) for your sake. Traffic deadlocks, public transportation doesn't know what the **** to do.
