The music of this decade is pretty pathetic..
Cindy Lauper and Devo are awesome. Devo happened to be one of the most inventive and creative bands of the time.
Lauper's music is far from crap. "Time After Time" is one of the most perfectly crafted songs in the annals of popular music.
Yeah, I think music started sucking around 1998 with the advent of TRL.
The '90s were good because it was a backlash against the style over substance MTV music of the '80s. Unfortunately, we've gone back to style over substance again.
There has been a lot of great music this decade:
Green Day
The White Stripes, The Raconteurs, Muse and Franz Ferdinand are pretty much the only modern music I listen to.
You know who I can't stand, The View. God, I ****ing hate them.
Green Day has to be the most overrated band of all time.If one more person says that Green Day is great, I'm going to shoot them in the ****ing head. Green Day ****ing sucksAmerican Idiot ****ing sucks

I told my friends that I didn't like Green Day, and they went "OMG are you crazy?"
I said "Yes, but that has nothing to with it."
They're not as talented as people think they are, and are kind of getting a little too political now.
[spoler]LOL! I do too.I love how people are dogging Backstreet Boys, N' Sync, BBMak, LFO, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Mandy Moore, Jessica Simpson, and 98 Degrees.
Most of y'all loved it back then.
Only now can you "say" that you hated it....
The funny thing is that I remember most of all of their songs, word for word.
The music of this decade pretty much sucks.
Muse is the exception.
As far as R&B and Hip Hop are concerned...absolutely. With a few noted exceptions, this decade has mostly yielded sugar-coated, baseless cheese confections. The last great decade for those genres was the early-to-mid nineties.
In my opinion.
Oh yeah.
Hip-Hop/R&B were at it's best from early-to-mid nineties.
That was where it was at, and I downloaded so much of it on my computer.![]()
I know! We had the best groups then--especially with R&B...
En Vogue, Guy, Troop, Toni-Tone-Tony, Jodeci, SWV, Mint Condition, TLC....
OMG.
Those were the good times.
That was my golden age of music.
But we've got some hopefuls keeping the torches burning, like Robin Thicke, Jill Scott and Musiq.
Thicke and Scott I like, but I haven't been all that hot on Musiq since Juslisen. But trying to find out what Maxwell's been up to. Urban Hang Suite is golden.
I love Robin Thicke.
He's the man.
