Damn... I can't say West as director doesn't gives me bad juju... He hasn't made even a decent film in some time.
Eh, West isn't that bad. He is, at the very least, good at shooting action sequences. So we know the film will look pretty good. And given that they have Cavill as the lead rather than some one-note, DTV action star like Jason Statham or Scott Adkins, I think this has potential. I think it really hinges on Cavill's performance, the quality of the script and the supporting cast. I wouldn't worry about Henry; this is clearly a passion project for him and he can handle action hero roles well. So he'll bring his A-game here. The other variables are what could make or break the film.
That's like getting shot in the balls isn't bad.
Henry Cavill has abruptly pulled out of action-thriller “Stratton,” five days before shooting was to begin, due to “creative differences” on the script.
“Stratton,” based on the first of a series of novels by Duncan Falconer, had been set to start filming on June 2 in London and Rome with Simon West directing.
GFM Films, which is providing financing and was selling the film last week at Cannes, said in a statement Thursday that it plans to press on with the project: “It is with great regret that we announce that Henry Cavill has pulled out of ‘Stratton’ due to creative differences on the script of the movie. With production due to commence next week, we wish to keep the production team together and Simon West as director so are working now to replace Henry. Production will be delayed whilst we do this. Further announcements will be made in due course.”
