It is here, finally, the release date of SUPERMAN/DOOMSDAY!

I hope this movie's as good as it looks. I still wish it were more like the comic, but they did as much as they could.

I still don't see why they couldn't make it longer, it is on dvd, they're in control. They admitted it is not just for kids, it is PG-13, they should be able to do more.

If I had done it, I would have done it as a trilogy...
THE DEATH OF SUPERMAN
FUNERAL FOR A FRIEND
THE RETURN OF SUPERMAN

Releasing each one one month after the other. Or maybe I'd condense 2 and 3, it's all that would really need to be done, have the funeral, then the arrival of the four. Then the return, have the Death of...released this month, then part 2 the return of...next month. I think it would have been a cool event done that way.

But I am happy about this, and I hope I'll be happy with it.

Timm knows he has alot to live up to, so I hope he did a good job.

finally someone will be able to put this badboy up on youtube and i can get to see it...

or at least the two main fights, that's all i really care about....

Yup it is pretty short :( on the other hand I'd rather have 75 min of good quality than two hours which feel dragged out.

It's the whole trilogy in one movie, right? Because that's the only way I'm watching this. I hated the bullcrap fight with Doomsday (look, everyone! A very powerful and mindless alien is attacking us for no particular reason, and Superman is fighting it as if the concept of a strategy is foreign to him!), but the funeral and all aftermath were great.

I saw the images of Kal-El with long hair and in the black suit, so I'd assume it's the entire trilogy.

CFE

It has the whole trilogy...

But prepare to be dissapointed in parts 2/3 and maybe 3/3....

Doomsday vs.Superman is the best part. There is no Supermen...

Doomsday vs. Superman had better not be the best part.

Again, adamant hater of that fight in the comics.

It is the best part ( to me anyway), the whole arc in between dont do much for me (lol@ the Kevin Smith cameo though)

I give it a 7 out of 10

- Great action (Superman VS Doomsday is the best part)

- The major reason it loses 3 points is Lois Lane is the focal point of the story; which generally wouldnt be a problem but her voice actor sucks!! Her dialogue ranges from bad to cringeworthy.

- It was rushed at times.

- Marsters as Lex was good but ending it with his cliffhanger was pointless; given its a one-off story.

- Jimmy + earing = no (though I was hoping there would be some sense that this took place in the 1990s)

- The relationship issue nonsense between Lois and Clark just seemed forced. Timm has done better stuff; this fell below his DCAU work.

Yeah I thought the Clois stuff especially in the FOS was ridiculous. I wanna hear Kal-El 8's excuse on it.

Still waiting for mine to arrive. I was hoping I'd have it today but it didnt arrive. I should have it by Friday. Cant wait to see it.

Anything nerd releated is wank material for him....

Comic-Con is his strip club

Is this DCAU?

I'm wondering because it is not hte same Lois, Lex or Jimmy from the old show and JLA and the voice actors for Superman, Lex and and especially Lois are all downgrades.

I thought this was its ow nseperate thing (especially since Doomsday already showed up in the DCAU and didn't kill Supes).

Just wondering.

In terms of continuity and design, appearntly not.

This has nothing to do with the Timm/Dini stuff of the past, only that it was produced by the same team. Superman, Lois, Jimmy, Mercey and especially Lex are drawn and voiced differently.
And since this introduces Doomsday I guess it is seperate.

I mean we dont really see any other characters from the DCU (other heores) so it depends on your perspective. But these Animated movies are one off in there own univerese, which was the point ( The Final Frontier is a great example of this)

Just watched it, five stars! I love the comic saga, and this did a really good job of getting the main elements of that story into 75 minutes, I was worried about the running time, but it was pretty good.

Spoilers...

I could have done without the evil Superman clone, they should have made him the Cyborg Superman, and Lex could have created him instead of the clone, the clone's been done before, he was Bizarro.:oldrazz: But still cool and, it kept that part of Superman coming back and fighting an evil version of himself.

I loved the part when Kevin Smith said, 'Did we really need him to stop a giant spider.' It's a great joke making fun of how they wanted a giant spider in that one movie smith wrote, but never got made and as Smith said that was fine considering how that one producer was ruining it with his dumb ideas.

all in all great movie.

This is what Superman Returns should have been. It's funny how a made for dvd movie can be better than some big budget live action movie, but ya' know, it just shows when you have the right people doing it who care and respect the source material and fans aswell, that that is what makes these movies the right way, and makes them successful.

Just like when Batman:Sub-Zero came out on Video in 97, everyone said how much better it was than Batman and Robin.

I hope they make a sequel to this movie, they can do a Hunter/Prey story, 'cause they didn't show in this one what they did with Doomsday's body.

Also I hate that they didn't show the famous punch that killed Doomsday and then Supes fell a moment later, but they did that in JL TAS and I'm sure didn't want to repeat that, but I was glad they stayed true to how Doomsday truly is and didn't make him like he was in JL or JLU.

Great movie, Baldwin as Supes was the best Superman voice yet, deep, Bruce Timm said he always wanted a deeper voice for Superman, and now he got his Superman.

Heche as Lois kinda' sucked at first but she got better as the movie went along it seemed.

The animation is very nice, Superman's suit colors were great, I just didn't like how they drew his cheek bones.

Now I'm off to watch the New Frontier teaser reel.

Man, DC's dvds are way better than Marvel's, they can learn something from Timm. Stay faithful, even if it's not exactly as it is in the books for certain scenes and all, it stays true to the main idea and important things.

I even cried when superman 'died'.
Very well done, nice touching moments, and incredible action.

:super: I Love you Bruce Timm and I Love you Superman. :woot:

I watched the first 10 minutes and so far I'm.....dissapointed .

I'll watch the rest tonight.

I just thought the animation didn't look any better than the animated series, and I really hate those stupid lines on Superman's face. What a crappy way to differentiate it from the Timmverse.

Why couldn't they move towards more realistic proportioning instead? Lois with her massive head and tiny body belongs in a Bratz cartoon.

Oh well, hopefully the story and voice acting will be good. (Not so crazy about Anne Heche so far)

I liked it a lot, myself.

It started off a little weak, and seemingly rushed with Doomsday and Superman just pounding away at each other, but once the movie slowed down and started being about Luthor's manipulations and obsession with Superman it started to get a lot better and be a pretty enjoyable Superman story.

Is it as good as STAS or most of the DCAU? No, because it didn't have nearly as much time to flesh out and characterized all of the character. It isn't an origin, and thusly can't say too much about the characters; it's just a self contained story about a group of characters were supposed to already know about and understand, and on that level, it works just fine. And it's certainly better than any of Marvel's animated movie offers (although Doctor Strange was good).

I will be picking this up today.

Does DC have any other animated movies coming out?

The only thing Superman Doomsday had over Superman Returns is the action; specifically the fighting. It was actually the best trait of Superman Doomsday.

As far as the story and the emotion tied behind it; Superman Returns wins. There were far more powerful scenes.

I think the problem is most of the emotion and story fell into Acts 2 and 3 of Superman Doomsday and the direction/writing for them were subpar and rushed.

Superman Doomsday really relied on Lois Lane as the main focal point to carry the emotion and the story and thats where it failed. Though I think Dana Delany's voice may have eased the problem to some degree.

The next one is going to be Justice League: The New Frontier which is based on Darwin Cooke's DC: The New Frontier.

Followed by Teen Titans: The Judas Contract. Obviously based on Marv Wolfman's and George Perez's arc on New Teen Titans.

Other confirmed films will be a Wonder Woman feature and a Batman anime set in the continuity of Batman Begins and The Dark Knight (sorta like the Animatrix).

And there has been interest in The Dark Knight Returns and Kingdom Come. But these haven't been confirmed.
