Doomsday is today!

I bought it, and certainly don't regret it. I actually feel like watching it again already.

The only thing Superman Doomsday had over Superman Returns is the action; specifically the fighting. It was actually the best trait of Superman Doomsday.

As far as the story and the emotion tied behind it; Superman Returns wins. There were far more powerful scenes.

I think the problem is most of the emotion and story fell into Acts 2 and 3 of Superman Doomsday and the direction/writing for them were subpar and rushed.

Superman Doomsday really relied on Lois Lane as the main focal point to carry the emotion and the story and thats where it failed. Though I think Dana Delany's voice may have eased the problem to some degree.
Of course Superman Returns had the better story and emotion. It was 2, 3 times as long as Doomsday. That gives you so much more...uh...time to really flesh out characters and make what's happening to them emotionally resonate.

Kinda hard to compare a cartoon to a live action feature film isn't it?

what i am sorry, this by far beats SR in every department. The story was much better, no super kid no land stupid schemes. And lex was a bad ass. Yes awesome fights.

I liked it a lot, myself.

It started off a little weak, and seemingly rushed with Doomsday and Superman just pounding away at each other, but once the movie slowed down and started being about Luthor's manipulations and obsession with Superman it started to get a lot better and be a pretty enjoyable Superman story.

Is it as good as STAS or most of the DCAU? No, because it didn't have nearly as much time to flesh out and characterized all of the character. It isn't an origin, and thusly can't say too much about the characters; it's just a self contained story about a group of characters were supposed to already know about and understand, and on that level, it works just fine. And it's certainly better than any of Marvel's animated movie offers (although Doctor Strange was good).
Way better than Marvel's crap. Think about the comic book, it started out as a slug fest and once it slowed down that's when the story got you, just like the movie, and if you think about it, the fight seemed longer 'cause we had to read it each week but if you watched it all at once it'd be almost as quick as this.

I re-read it recently in the tpb. and, I was like wow, that was faster than I thought.

I can't stop thinking about it.

This is what SR should have been. As I said Sub-Zero was better than Batman and Robin, and S/D is better than SR. WB should take a look at this and learn something, they should see that this dvd cartoon feature was better than their live action Singer garbage.

Me too. I can't stop thinking about it, it really made an impact, and that's when you know you have something special.:yay:

No, it isn't. The day I admit that Doomsday is better than SR will be the day you can formulate an entire post without looking like a dyslexic.

Never slander Marvel in my presence.

Ya' know, it's funny, Superman is like a family member. You care for him.
When I was a kid I'd squirm when I'd watch him in a movie and he'd be in danger because of Kryptonite chained to his neck, or in SuperPowers:Galactic Guardians the 80's cartoon that featured a show called The death of Superman, he passed from Kryptonite poisoning, he was all green and in his coffin that they were about to send into space, and it made me feel sick to my stomache, when my Uncle passed away around that time it was almost the same feeling.

When I heard about the Death story coming up in the comics back in the 90's that feeling came back, when I finally read it I felt sick like a friend or family member had passed, it was nuts what I felt for a fictional character, but he's so pure, so good, you couldn't think of him dying.

Today when I saw the movie, I had all these feelings come back to me, this movie was damn good if it can do that, and it's funny how real Superman is, that he can inspire such feelings.

I almost teared up even during SR when he was being beaten, but that was ntohing compared to this, this was the real Superman, more so than that Singer movie.

This movie was way better than SR. Funny how a cartoon can be better than a movie, but it shows, don't mess with the mythos and tradition like stupid Singer did.

S/D is a beautiful movie. I love Bruce Timm and his caring for these characters.

I really enjoyed this movie. I will definately be watching this film again. I loved all the characters and the voices. I definately can't wait for the Justice League: New Frontier.
I know that Teen Titans: The Judas Contract is after this and also the anime Batman that will tie BB and TDK and I know there is talks of Batman: The Dark Knight Returns and Kingdom Come, but wasn't there some thing a while back that there might be a Batman: Long Halloween animated film?

I had hoped that it would be in the Redbox at work, but alas, Redbox was lacking Superman: Doomsday. Will try Blockbuster on Thursday.

After seeing this and the teaser for NF, I hope they do TLH, and dark Victory too. Heck make more arcs and Graphic novels come to life now!!!

Doctor Strange and Iron Man were great. Okay, they were good.
DS was pathetic, none of stan's classic spells, and it didn't even seem like or look like DS, and as for IM, the origin was good then he just kept getting beaten up and the stories were just blah.

But S/D was beautiful.

Sorry you didn't get it, hopefully you'll see it soon, it's so great DR. Fate.

Superman/Doomsday had better be poetry in motion, because I liked Doctor Strange. :cmad:

Doctor Strange should have been called Mystic Sword Guy: The Fall of Mordeau

Iron Man was "okay", but the fact that he had already invented the ironman armor BEFORE he built the Mark I was just bad.

S/D was standalone, and borderline crap.

Yeah it was nice to watch the action amped up a few notches but it shouldn't have been called Superman/Doomsday, it should have been called The Death of Superman: Lois Lane's Lament

I Loved it and have seen it twice ill write a bigger review later.

Oh and CCON he isnt a idiot just narrow minded.
