I know Fox owns the rights to the F4 and that sadly includes Doom, but if all of these movies are giving us great villains (Loki, Red Skull, etc) then I am surprised Marvel hasn't been more vocal about getting the rights back to Doom so they can have him be the grand threat against all of the heroes...I mean its freakin' Doctor Doom? Who wouldn't want to see him in all of his grandiose glory standing in front of an army of thousands of Doombots and Castle Doom, Latveria?

I have a theory that the new FF comic (it's not called the Fantastic Four, and with Sony-licensed Spidey taking Johnny's place Fox can't make a movie about that group) is part of a strategy by Disney to get the :ff: rights back.

But yeah, he really needs to be done right... I'm pretty sure that Julian McMahon was merely playing a Doombot. :doom:

um the comics have nothing to do with the movies. Last I heard they will reboot FF with a new cast but Fox is rushing to get movies out of properties they are about to lose...like Ghost Rider

Sadly, this will not happen anytime soon. Though I agree, it'd be amazing.

No, unfortunatly the greatest villain in all comics will never be done properly so long as Fox his him.

I believe that at the very least the name change is in order for Disney to stop promoting a franchise they cannot currently make a profit from. Hopefully with the aim being that Fox will lose interest in making a movie just to keep the franchise

that makes no sense whatsoever....Marvel/Disney still gets a cut of the profit that Fantastic Four would make at the BO. If that was the case why arent they doing the same for Daredevil, Spider-man and X-men???

I personally think Loki and Magneto are on Doom's level in the "greatest villains" category, although I'm positive that I'm in the minority here.

*shrugs*

I kind of liked Dr. Doom in the F4 movies. I thought he was just the right amount of over the top awesome.

I bet you hate things like laughter, hugs and light.

Fox wouldn't even be able to use Lex Luthor and Joker anyway...:oldrazz:

So what if some one already cracked wise on this statement. I did it anyway.

ANYWAY...if we're talking just Avengers, I rather have Ultron go up against them all. I don't see Marvel getting to use the likes of Spider-Man and the X-Men and the F4 all in one film, if that's what you mean by a grand threat against "all the heroes". Even if they do, we're never getting a All Marvel film anyway, so Doom would probably only ever go up against selected heroes.

I'm sure we'll see him done properly. I mean, we are getting a Fantastic Four reboot, so that's our best chances at this point. Hopefully, we get a good director.

I never liked how he was portrayed in the movie without the electronic voice, no gadgets or devices, etc. & being made to seem invincible. Utter hogwash!

And if portrayed right on the big screen, has the potential to be as memorable as Darth Vader. Too bad movie studios don't get it, when it comes to these characters.

I stand by what I said, and I refuse to argue on a forum. So, there.

Huh. It wasn't an awful portrayal but they missed on his over the top the ego and confidence in himself, which makes Doom Doom. They also missed on so many other finer points. I didn't care for his origin in those movies. I'm big on staying close to the original source material. I would have loved to see Doom use sorcery.

hopefully after the last FF films and people gradually understanding the difference between marvel studios films and marvel licensed films, fox will give up after the next FF bombing. i don't expect people to boycott fox's films but at some point they'll prefer the real thing enough that they wont waste money on the pretender.

My understanding is unless Fox puts out a film by the end of 2012, they forefeit the rights to the characters. They have no script, the things been in development hell since 2007, they even faild to launch a Silver Surfer movie.

Fox has to be the dumbest studio on the face of the planet. Vin Diesel practically begged for the Surfer roll because he was such a fan. That's really what they needed to fuel the franchise, real star power. I don't have a problem with anyone they cast in FF except that none of them have been a frontliner for a successful film. Perhaps Evans will be that guy with CA, but come on folks this is 4 years after the fact.

In any case, I have no doubts Marvel will get the rights back, but I'm sure they'll have to pay a settlement to Fox, which is why being owned by Disney is so huge. You don't think Disney would want to have a Fantastic Four movie run under Disney pictures? That's right up there alley.

Just give it some time, it's too soon right now to reboot. Let Avengers happen, and Iron Man 3, and the Spidey reboot. Once we get to 2015 and 10 years have passed since the first, it will be a better time to reboot.

Yeah, that's what these movies really needed: Vin Diesel as Silver Surfer.

As long Fox holds the rights of Dr. Doom, and answer is no.

Like others have said, it is all about Marvel/Disney getting the rights back for the F4 properties... Then I think the best way to re-introduce the characters and the F4 mythos is via a cosmic adventure TV show... They after a couple of seasons, do a movie again based on the "rebooted" characters from the TV show... and let the orginal movies fade away. That way Doom can be introduced and presented in the proper way.

I thought doom sucked in F41 but I thought his character was improved a bit in F42 ....but that's not saying much. lol

If Marvel ever get F4 back, they can incorporate them in the shared universe that the Avengers have right now, and even have crossover villains or superheroes. Just imagine in the Avengers 2, they will have to face the might of Dr. Doom, or have The Thing join the Avengers as a semi-regular teammate.

Marvel could get the rights back to the FF today and I can guarantee the villain of Avengers 2 would not be Doom. Marvel has these movies planned out. I'm willing to bet real money they already know who the villains are to Avengers 2 and 3, Cap 2 and 3 and Thor 2 and 3.

Disney might buy the rights for F4 back from Fox if there's a mutual agreement about how much it's worth to Disney vs. Fox.

However, I don't think Disney is ever going to get the X-men movie rights, and honestly I don't care if they ever do-- for the most part I think X-men is fine where it is. The Marvel Movie Universe is not being overrun by an ongoing mutant saga, and the X-men have plenty of room to grow in their own movie universe, and IMO that's how it should be. I don't want a reboot of X-men, and I don't want Iron Man and Thor getting tripped up in mutant stories. Fox definitely isn't letting the franchise go any time soon, since there are so many characters in the X-men universe that if they miss a beat in their required release schedule they can just make a direct-to-video spinoff about a minor character and the "4-wall it" with a single-theater screening to meet their theatrical release requirement.
