Dracula Year Zero Rises at Universal

Worthington has had great luck and has a great agent.

Until he proves otherwise I still find him to be a lame ass actor with virtually no charisma on screen.

If Christian Bale is the Harrison Ford of this generation, then Worthington is the Kevin Costner.

But crap in The Untouchables, JFK and other great films that he let down.

(Looks at the many actors that have played Dracula in films over the last 100 years)

If Gerard Butler, Chris Atkins, George Hamilton, and Richard Roxburgh can play Dracula, I'm sure I can give Sam a shot (if this film even get's made).

I like Worthington, he has charisma and despite what many say I do think he can act. And Proyas is a great director IMO, so I am will following this closely.

Wait...Sam Worthington is going to be in this???

The guy is in the biggest movie of all time, but probably wouldnt get noticed on a busy street...and is already over exposing himself and appearing in B level action flicks.

Vin Diesel has some career advise for him, but I doubt Sam would listen.

Don't forget Gary Oldman.

Personally, I have no problems with Sam being cast as Dracula, but only if it fits with the vision of the director and the take on the character. That brings up another thing, something that is being discussed in this thread and was discussed in the Twilight threads. So WTF if they're making changes to the book and the character as we know him? I for one like seeing new takes on established characters and myths. It's not like the source material is being erased from history.

is Sam miscast for dracula? i think he is for the version that i would love to see.

but for a hollywood origin movie? no.

I'm sure there will be massive and cool action sequenceses with armies colliding, silhuettes of people getting impaled as well as graphic details of the poles going through bodies, and yes Proyas is good director, but to me, Dracula has been sucked pretty dry. And Sam Worthington is so micasted as Dracula. Boring leading man for boring idea of a movie.

I think he was only talking about the bad movie Dracula's. Hence, Gary Oldman wasn't mentioned.

I missed that.

Agreed.

Gary Oldman had style. Coppola's Dracula is underrated masterpiece. Even with Keanu Reeves. And Winona Ryder.

Visually, if they are going with the traditional Vald Tepes look, I think Sam fits the bill. However, even though I like Worthington, I don't think he has what it takes to touch what Gary Oldman did. This I fear is going to be another Van Helsing; great potential, but ultimately goes horribly wrong.

If they were going with some historical accuracy, they'd cast Nicolas Cage :D

This would be funny:

With action man Worthington, maybe it's something like this:

Well, I see this is more of a Translation of fictional Vlad Dracula, than the historic Vlad II.

======================

Michael Wincott would be perfect, but his raspy voice would have to be dubbed.

I liked Dracula 2000. :o

Only Proyas involvement makes me think this will not stink, but Sam Worthless as Dracula? REALLY?

Gerard Butler was a kickass Dracula. :woot:

So was Frank Langella.

I like Worthington, but not for Dracula.

Ironically, I think Christian Bale would an awesome Dracula. So would Michael Fassbender, Henry Cavill, Jonathan Rhys-Meyers and Alexander Skarsgard, imo.
