Dracula Year Zero Rises at Universal

I can't get over the silence towards this film on here and elsewhere, even the biggest turkeys have resulted in hot threads. Hell, even films unreleased but anticipated as a turkey such as the fantastic 4 have resulted in hotter threads. This film deserves so much better.

It's because the movie trailers are underwhelming and the movie just screams cheap straight to DVD flick. Also, a Dracula movie that's pg-13 seems lame, and most of the reviews say it's meh.

'Dracula Untold' opened to $21 million overseas

I wonder if they'll release an extended cut considering they have cut a whole sub plot with a Witch (Samantha Barks) and characters from the film

Fwiw it had a 15a cert here in Ireland but I agree the trailers probably hurt it.

I was wondering about that, Barks stood out for me in Les Mis and I knew she had a role here but didn't spot her. The film definitely feels like it was gutted at times.

I went to see this today and it was a sold film. Is it the best Dracula film I've seen? No it isn't but it's ok.

The last scene set's up Universal's Monster universe. Which was cool to see.

7/10.

Oh and a friend's girlfriend doesn't get the concept of reincarnation.:funny:

Was gonna pass this, but Roose bolton recommending this? Maybe i need to see it then!

What was the scene if you don't mind?

What was the scene if you don't mind?

It flash forwards to the present and we see Dracula walking down a street and he spots this woman who is is his reincarnated wife.We see the old demon vampire who gave him his powers sitting at a cafe. The couple walk away and the old vampire walks behind them and say's "Let the games begin".
This is a call back to earlier on in the film before Vlad gets his powers where the old man say's he'll need him one day and his going to call in his favour.

Thanks

Although it sounds like it could set up a sequel not necessarily a Universal Monsters universe. Although I heard Untold is supposed to be the beginning

Also I was just thinking. How does the 20th Century Fox Frankenstein film affect the Universal Monsters if at all?

It's not a good sign when there are a grand total of zero American talk show appearances to promote this movie.

This film is in that funny place where it can either be beginning of the Universal Monsters universe if it makes money or swept under the rug like it never existed if it bombs.

Fixed.

You're right. This has bomb written all over it. Maybe a #3 or #4 debut.

It kinda sucks too because I like Luke Evans. He's always in some s***ty movies except last summer.

I thought it started off well Internationally. I'm not sure on the figures though.

Yeah, I like him too. I think he'll be okay though. He still has a big role in the new Hobbit film and I'm sure he has other stuff lined up. I hope he doesn't play the Crow though. I'd love to see him in a superhero role (he's have made a great Batman and would make an epic Dr. Strange) but leave the Crow well enough alone.

He is playing Eric Draven man he said they go into filming next year.

Luke Evans did an interview on the Today show this week to promote the movie. But that's been the ONLY promotion I have seen for the movie here in the U.S. Also its pretty sad that this movie is Luke Evans FIRST starring role.............

Nobody in the cast is promoting the film on the Late Night Talk Shows.

love the look of this film, but this guy will always be Dracula to me.

Why? It's not that good.

It's a lame Dracula film where they try to make Dracula into Superman.

Why is this film so deserving of much better? Because it has Charles Dance in it? It doesn't work very well man. It's an unmemorable film that easily could've been a DTV movie.
