Dragon Age 3

This seems to be getting pretty positive reviews. Unfortunately they're kind of useless for me personally, Dragon Age II got mostly good reviews after all. I really want to hear from someone who thought DAII was terrible.

I'd say wait for Angry Joe to upload a review. He seems more in tune with your average gamer than some of the more known review sites like IGN (imo). I can't see one for DA:I just yet, but he has uploaded a vid about his impressions so far in which he does a non-spoiler play through of the opening of the game.

So Playstation 4 or PC edition? The reviews don't seem to compare the platforms, but some reviews do note that on Normal setting the tactical camera is mostly pointless.

I listened to the RPG sites that are hardcore RPG types. And one of them was praising it. What I looked for more than anything was, diverse world, huge world, and deep tactical combat. Which it seems this one has.

I keep reading that the game is easy. Like dirt easy. :(

Numerous people have recommended I play on the Nightmare setting.

I think its clear at this point that this is not going to be DA2 part 2. DA2 looked BAD going in, whereas Inquisition looks amazing; if nothing else Inq has had a 3 1/2 year dev time verses 2's eighteen months, that's just a world of difference in terms of dev time.

Really? I hope not. Might have to crank it to hard my first playthrough.

I honestly don't understand the point of making any game like this easy. What is the point of an RPG or action game that is easy?

Now I feel conflicted as to whether or not I should play the last 2 games. The Keep sounds like the ultimate express story creator. Idk now...

I enjoyed both. Origins had the better story, but I prefer Hawke over The Grey Warden.

Ya, that's my issue with so many games of today. Which review did you read this from DS? I was reading a lot of the reviews but I did not see much about the difficulty.

I mean we also don't know if its actually dirt easy yet, I have heard from some people its hard and from others to crank the difficulty up - so the player's skill and experience might be coming into it.

Anyway, Forbes (who have been critical of Bioware) have started their review and seem to be pretty into it so far:

They seem to indicate the difficulty is pretty taxing on the higher settings. Honestly, just on the spread of opinions in that regard I think it'll be fine.

Forum talk and I believe it was the GS review that said the game didn't really require much strategy. If you can just run in and pound the enemy... blah.

He does also say that he was only playing on medium and to put it up on hard if you want more of a challenge. Origin's on Medium wasn't overly taxing either.

And on top of that there is also the Nightmare setting...

edit:

Here's from the Polygon review:

the hard and nightmare difficulty settings all but require you to use the paused tactical combat at all times.

I wonder if boosting the difficulty actually gives the enemy a brain or if it simply makes them damage sponges. It my experience quality combat exist on all difficulties, as it is part of the enemy AI.

That being said, I don't play on normal unless forced to.

I haven't heard anything about bullet sponges, not from reviewers or people who have played the game.

And different settings are for different people. There are some people who just play these things for the stories and others without RPG combat backgrounds. Easy and Medium are for them. Hard and Nightmare are for people such as yourself (I will be playing Hard).

Cool, well other than that the game sounds great, I will just jack up the difficulty.

This vid is a Nightmare play through of the beginning of the game. Maybe this will help those interested in seeing how it handles.

I agree that is what something like Easy (auto) is for. But the average setting shouldn't be like that imo. That should be the base level.

So amazon.com has the ultimate edition of Dragon Age Origins for like...28 bucks. Should I go for it?

If you've got a halfway decent PC you can get it for ten dollars cheaper including shipping via Amazon.

Don't grab Origins for the consoles. It does not run well at all. I am saying this from experience.

I don't have a proper gaming PC, never will most likely. I've looked at gameplay videos for the PS3 version of Origins. Looks fine to me.

I play on PS3 and it handles fine enough for me (though it may have been a bit buggier when it originally released, but there were patches released also). If all you want to do is play the game in the way that suits your tastes best then the console version will do fine.
