Animation Dragonball HQ - Part 1

It feels like they make it up as they go. It's like the whole Tournament of Power was just a spontaneous idea, and now they rush it and give everyone power ups, so they even have a fighting chance.

How much time has passed between the tournament of Universe 6 and 7, and the now upcoming Tournament of Power? Why is Cabba only now showing his new found power to other Saiyans? Champa could have ordered Cabba to train Saiyans, for a planned rematch, only for the rematch to fall through, because now it's a tournament between all the Universes. That way you'd have Caulifla and Kale, with months of training and experience as Super Saiyans. And not have them train and perfect the transformation, a few hours before the damn tournament starts.

Toriyama has outright admitted that he has only ever planned ahead when he decided to make Piccolo an alien. Otherwise he just makes everything up the week he had to draw it or in the case of Dragon Ball Super, when he had to turn in a draft.

It's even worse cause that doesn't matter. Goku and Vegeta, if they just wanted to have fun, would have to devolve under SSJ3 to make it even. So what exactly beyond saying they are good fighters makes these other Super Saiyans a threat to anyone besides Gohan?

We don't know how strong Kale and Caufliflowa are individually, but that doesn't matter. They have eight other capable teammates working with them to achieve their goal.

They're Saiyans from a different universe. Chances are they evolved differently so achieving SS could be a far easier task for them than it would be for those in U7. Plus Caulifa is the head general's daughter so I'm sure she's more capable than your average U6 Saiyan.

She's Renso's little sister no daughter.

Plus they confirmed in the U6 Tourney arc that they did in fact evolve differently since they don't have tails.

If Planet Sadal didn't blow up in U7 forcing the Saiyans to migrate to Planet Plant/Vegeta, they very well could have ended up like Cabba and Co.

On a side note....I miss Saiyans having tails.

Also does anyone else find it kinda funny that its basically June and the ToP hasn't even started yet. The Arc started four months ago and we're at least 2-4 episodes away from the actual tournament.

Plus how long do you want the actual tournament to last? Will it beat the Frieza's Saga's record of 10 episodes covering 5 minuets or not?

I think at it could last anywhere from 5-15 episodes. Though with how many characters they've been hyping/introducing...i'd say 12 episodes might be a sweet spot.

The production committee is probably dragging their feet for a few reasons: Bandai needs time to produce merchandise for the new characters, Toriyama Akira needs time to write a new plot, and the production team at Toei Animation led by Series Director Nagamine Tatsuya and Nakamura Ryouta need time to get their ducks in a row and collect enough good animators willing to work on the series under it's bad production schedule.

A few weeks ago I began to speculate that they were waiting until Episode #97 before starting the tournament itself and now that Sidra is making a pointless attempt on Freeza's life...I'm convinced they are. Episode #97 will be the first episode of July, which is the beginning of the summer season in Japan, which would mean the beginning a new cour.

We do know that the scripts and animation are already at the tournament itself, so it's definitely going to beginning soon.

I love that Kale is turning out to be the yandere imouto-type. I hope this continues to play out until it solidifies the yuri aspect of her and Caulifla's relationship!

Some nice Dragon Ball Multiverse art. Still enjoy the fan manga a lot.

Yes, she was. Complete and utter nonsense. But it's Dragon Ball Super so... *shrug*

Unconfirmed leaks

Say that Freeza will defect to Universe 4, leaving Universe 7 scrambling for their 10th member.

Ajay from Kanzenshuu has updated with some good news from a source:

Ajay said:
I asked Tu about the overall state of Super's production, but predictably, he wasn't able to say much due to his obligation keep certain aspects confidential.

He did, however, say that we should really raise our expectations for when the tournament begins. He's gotten really good vibes from Nagamine, and has actually been learning a lot from Shida lately - though again, he wouldn't discuss details.

Some pretty reassuring words, especially after his last comment.

Mister Tu is one of the series' second key animators. Mister Shida is a veteran animator and currently Toei Animation's biggest star. He worked on dozens of episodes of the first three series, but now that he's such a big name he doesn't stick to a single series, instead popping around to whatever project has the time for him to create a cool scene, rather than just draw random stuff.

Maybe the tournament won't be so bad, after all, especially if Series Director Nagamine Tatsuya is excited. Since Nagamine is the lead creator the burden is typically on him to make the project high-quality. Perhaps he's finally found away around the series' lack of time and talent?

Check the Team Four Star Channel. There's a new Cell Vs video. :funny:

Episode #95 was incredible toward the end. The episode was storyboarded and directed by MahouTsukai PreCure Series Director Mitsuka Masato. This is my first real taste of his work and I would say he did a great job, definitely the level you would expect from a series director. Karasawa Yuu'ichi finally returned to the series, too. He was the animation supervisor of the last half of the episode and he did an incredible job making Freeza look menacing. The scenes are Uranai Baba's place were better than the 2015 film by a long shot.

Also, Piccolo and Artificial Human #17 met again after fourteen years. I was reminded of Dutch and Dillon's reunion! :p

Part of me wonders if they'll end up combining all of the universes together into one in the end.
