I've been planning to watch every episode... not sure when I will have time.. I haven't watched this show since I was a kid. I really enjoyed it.

So I managed to get the complete series of GT for $15 ($10 ebay bid plus $5 shipping). I don't particularly care for GT, but I saw that on ebay and decided to bid, not really expecting to win haha. Oh well, I've been kind of wanting to rewatch all the DB stuff for awhile.

The Kai boxsets are expensive as hell, though. I wanted to at least get the last one, because the YouTube channel I was using to watch it was taken down, and the rest I have found are low quality, and almost all of them are cropped terribly for some reason where the bottom half of the picture is cut off for some reason. I forgot how much anime prices ballooned since I haven't been watching a lot and when I do it's through streaming services.

Just finished reading Jaco the Galactic Patrolman. It was very enjoyable and pretty funny.It was a nice a little piece of world-building tho I do have some issues with the retcons concerning Goku's origins but oh well at least its nice to actually know Goku's Mother lol. I thoroughly enjoyed Jaco and the Omori character! It's nice to see Jaco in the new movie and I hope both of them appear in Dragonball Super!

What did they recton about Goku's origin?

Bardock and Gine (his Mother) sent Goku to Earth themselves in secret to protect him, fearing Frieza's attack. Also Goku was like a toddler or something rather than just baby and he had saiyan armor on. It made him more like Superman than he already was lol. Also it mentioned Frieza knowing not just about a super saiyan but a super saiyan god too which felt tacked on just for the sake of the movies tho I guess its not that much of retcon. It all just felt a bit rushed and I prefer the origins in the Bardock movie.

Yeah, that sort of rectons the Bardock movie/special/whatever it was, too, right? Because he doesn't really suspect Freiza of attacking until he sees it in those future visions that those people give him, either, if my memory serves me. Yeah, that seems kind of eh. But it seems some of the new material is pretty stupid from what I've been reading, like Vegeta now randomly having a younger brother that he knew about all along (who is named Table and married to a marshmallow woman), and Bardock not dying in Freiza's blast but being sent back in time and him being the actual Super Saiyan of Legend (just lol there).

I hope that's not an indication of how Super will be.

Yeah Tarble is lame but I dont put much stock on the Bardock Super Saiyan special cuz its not by Toriyama.

I didn't mind Tarble, though I wish they had done something with him in the special.

I heard about the new retcons to the origin and found them lame and ignorable so that's what I did.

Freeze knowing about a Super Sayian sure or even just fearing that they might collectively get too strong to put down eventually being a concern is viable. Bardock going back in time and becoming a super sayian and beating down Freezas ancestor is just too far out there even for DBZ. I prefer the DBZ Abridged version where it's Goku telling a story in his own insane way of Bardock becoming the first super sayian and it turning into a dream by Gohan.

I also don't like the retcon about Gokus parents knowing about Freeza showing up despite what was established years earlier. Doesn't make a lot of sense really.

Yeah, as far as we know the new films are direct continuations of Z, and Super will follow.

Pretty much, yeah. Battle of the Gods kind of established itself as a continuation of Z over GT.

I'm going to have to check out Dragonball Z Kai in preparation for this.

So taking GT out of the equation, I'm assuming this is now the Saiyan transformation canon:

Saiyan > Super Saiyan > Super Saiyan 2 > Super Saiyan 3 > Super Saiyan God > Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan.

Might need to simplify that last one a bit. I feel like I'm having a stroke every time I say it .

Don't think Uub will be in this. Uub turned up at the tournament, when Trunks and Goten were in their teens. Here they are still just small kids.

I don't think Super Saiyan God is an actual transformation. It was like a one time deal, but Goku (and Vegeta) found a way to use the energy and put it in a transformation. SSGSS replaces regular Super Saiyan God.
