Dragonball Script Thread (Contains Spoilers Duh)

I wholeheartedly agree.

The only faithful thing that Ben Ramsey actually wrote in that script is the fact that he tried cramming almost all of the characters from the Dragonball series (Which in my opinion didn't work and felt forced). The overall story was a butchered/victimized retelling of Dragonball. The script included a Dragonball Video games and Card games (Hated how the Dragonball mythology was part of merchandise), A Goku and Bulma relationship, tons of inaccuracies.... need I say more.

Well then, you obviously aren't going to like the final film as it isn't going to be a translation of the manga.

I thought this was extremely faithful.

Um... pilaf a namekian? It's not exactly faithful but then again I don't care if it's not faithful.

The essence is there. The characters and there personalities are there.

I like the direction that James Wong and company are going for. What I don't like is this script by Ben Ramsey. If you found that in the least bit similar to the manga then its quite possible that we have been seeing/reading different anime/manga's. Please refrain from telling me what I'm going to enjoy and what I'm not going to enjoy. Again I'm only stating my opinion on this script which I found was horribly written and doesn't really capture the feel of Dragonball. That's why I'm pretty glad that James Wong and Stephen Chow re-wrote the script into a much better (and hopefully smarter) film that is faithful to the manga/anime not only in name and characters but in the ambiance and the wonderful storytelling that doesn't feel forced.

You know all this how?

And Chow over saw some of the script writing process. He never put pen to paper.

James Wong did re-write the script, that was reported a while back :yay:. When I put Stephen Chow's name in there I meant about the minor input he had put in the script by just giving James Wong ideas and such. Also I said "Hopefully" didn't say I knew for a fact that this was going to be a smart and completely faithful film.

No.. you said that they wrote their script was:

"a much better (and hopefully smarter) film that is faithful to the manga/anime not only in name and characters but in the ambiance and the wonderful storytelling that doesn't feel forced."

Just wondering if you read their script. :)

I mean, I loved this script and I'm certain it got better after each rewrite, but after everything we know and have seen from this film it appears that only a good 40% of this script was changed.

James Wong has more experience in this genre than Ben Ramsey, plus he's a smart guy. I have faith that he'll fix the flaws in this decent but not great script.

Well I meant hopefully James Wong and Company will give us "a much better (and hopefully smarter) film that is faithful to the manga/anime not only in name and characters but in the ambiance and the wonderful storytelling that doesn't feel forced like Ben Ramsey's script."

Hope that makes more sense. :yay:

Gotcha.

And I hope that too. :)

This man should never be allowed to write.

Uwe Boll is a hell of a writer compared to Ramsey. lol jk.

So glad this film has been delayed till now

I'm still reading it, it's just hard to concentrate because the dialogue is sooo ridiculous. And some of the descriptions, ugghh.....Think a white robe akin to sean John? Really?
