"Comic books--serious or escapist fantasy? This 2-hour special shows how comic book superheroes reflect their times--from the 1930s to the 21st century--and how these wish-fulfillment figures became role models for generations of children. Following the most representative cartoon crusaders and villains, as well as the industry that formed them, we see how they mirrored society--from the Depression, WWII, the Cold War, and the turbulent '60s to today--and how they proved adaptable to other media."
Well they missed the point of Dragonball SO badly with Evolution it deserves better.
I hear constantly that people complain about the DBZ episodes that played out forever, but that was because that's just the TV format, I'm sure a battle wouldn't extend into 6 episodes when translated to a movie, so people complaining about that are just foolish.
The part they missed about DB:E was that it was a journey for Goku, being a sworn destroyer of the planet to become it's strongest protector, the threats he overcomes because he has the saiyan blood in him for battle and strength. His friends who although not as powerful as him, are still strong in their own rights...and most of all the points of views, I loved the Saiyan saga in DBZ, it really brought out the anger from Goku and Vegeta, where Vegeta would kill mercilessly, Goku won't unless he has no choice, But the anger that ups them to the next levels of power was amazing, then into the Frieza saga that explored more about power levels....I only wish they didn't jump to such high numbers, it was cool to see Goku train and get stronger in the cartoon and realize how to reach the next levels or stumble upon them....
and finally...I was almost certain that the Dragonballs were made by a giant dragon and not 7 mystics...
Um, so why make Dragonball Evolution in the first place? Are they expecting people to forget that piece of trash all of a sudden?
How about leave Dragonball alone and if you do reboot it start with the DBZ saga and don't water down the Raditz saga, Vegeta, Frieza, Trunks, Gohan, Piccolo, and Cell. I imagine Marsters must be pretty pissed too seeing as he was supposed to be a huge fan and barely got to do anything in the actual film.
This sucks!!!!!!!!!!!fox will reboot FF and DD, but not DB?
This whole "if at first you don't succeed, try try again" mentality that Hollywood is getting into is starting to become a major annoyance. I'm starting to miss the good old days when if Hollywood effed something up the first time around, they'd leave it alone and let it die with some of its dignity in tact!
