Here's my ideas cut up into bits and pieces, pretty sloppy at the moment.
Big must - three three-hour flicks in the style of Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings trilogy that would cover his journey as a child searching for the dragon balls who then comes across Emperor Pilaf and later on the evil Piccolo to the arrival of the Saiyans then the epic battle with Frieza and his minions.
Dragon Ball: The Journey of Son Goku
First movie would be about his arrival to Earth, him growing up from infancy to early adulthood and meeting some if not most of the characters from the manga/anime (Bulma, Yamcha, Oolong, Krillin, Master Roshi). For villains in the first I'd probably throw in Emperor Pilaf for the first two acts and the Demon King Piccolo who would be introduced later on in the movie.
Dragon Ball: The Prince of the Saiyans
Second movie would kick off where Z began. Goku is now an adult and he is the father to Gohan, Raditz is introduced and this is where the drama/action begins. Vegeta and Nappa arrive, Goku has to save Earth from the two along with Krillin, Yamcha, Tien and the newly reformed Piccolo. All the while we are given glimpses of the trilogy's big evil, Frieza.
Dragon Ball: The Wrath of the Overlord
Third would all be about Frieza and his henchmen/army and would cover a good portion of the Frieza saga. Huge build up would cross over into this and hopefully all of the acts would deliver a massive satisfactory blow-off when it ends.
I would hate if the whole cast was white washed but for concept designs for the Saiyans I'd probably alter their features a bit. The hair is very important, I would like to see something that looks natural but completely savage... Not forced spikes hair-sprayed rock solid, it's got to move in the wind but also retain that classic look when it settles. I'd give Saiyans almost monkey-like ears, much bigger than a humans referencing their Oozaru forms during a full moon. The only thing I'd dread is probably looking for a kid capable of headlining the first two acts of the first movie, that would be hell.
Would love to see some alien languages here and there too.
