I think the trailer's a bit deceptive in a sense, because watching it one would assume they're going for more of the original film, but I've a feeling that outside of one or two big moments it's probably going to skew closer to Stand Alone Complex for the majority of the film. I think they said they wanted to save the Puppet Master storyline for a sequel.
Not two. Roof jump, the puppet hacker, tank battle, ocean dive.

Some really cool visual ideas in here. I'll give it a shot.

The official opening sequence for the movie:

Besides the 1995 original, do you guys recommend the other anime that have come out for this?

Well it was more a figure of speech, my point is that it's not going to be a direct adaptation of the 95 film. I imagine a lot of content is going to be drawn from other material.

The sequel to the 1995 film "Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence" is ok but not massively great. The "Stand Alone Complex" series is fantastic though and well worth a watch.

Because I believe it is from the stream itself.

Then why wouldn't Paramount just release a high quality clip instead of a bootleg?

I feel like in post they should make her eyes CG, as her eyes are technically artifical also and in the manga and anime they always looked a little...off.

They're using so much stuff from the original--the music, the shot selection, the design--that I am 100% in board with this.

The Manga is very light hearted in comparison to the various animated adaptions, less philosophical too. But at the same time, none of the animated adaptations have had Colonel Campbell telling the Major that he needs scissors 61.

:funny:

SAC 1 & 2 are fantastic. I'm gonna rewatch them and the original anime film closer to release of this.

I only saw the 95 film never saw the series I think it is clever as hell that there is a 25th anniversary of the first film on blu ray but it has not been 25 years since it came out (it's 25th anniversary would be 2020). I may have to pick it up soon

I actually quite love the visuals so far (don't understand why some people are calling it dull on the interwebs), my problems are the use of slow-mo and the fact that Major seems to be, as another poster said, going on the journey of amnesiac action hero instead of questioning her humanity.

BTW, the opening sequence is kickass.

hey, how about some gifs from the teaser, I could go for a new avatar ;)
