Yeah I'm more down with this the more I think about it. Hopefully it's not watered down and I'm a little worried about the directing but other than that... I'm on board. It's made me want to go out and pick up the manga so that's something.

my friend who never saw the 95 film saw this trailer and liked it and wants to see it so that is pretty cool

I can see it doing decently in the states and pretty good abroad.

Though as a franchise it'll be weird. I'd assume if they did a sequel it'd be based on the Laughing Man storyline from Stand Alone Complex, and then whenever they get into the Puppet Master from the 1995 film it would nearly have to be the one to end it on. Innocence probably wouldn't be great as a theatrical piece.

That is a bit of a problem for something that has been ripped off so many times. But then again, that is why you get a fantastic director, to overcome such an obstacle.

This is a great point, ever since The Matrix ripped it off it's been the visual blueprint for modern sci-fi action films.

I'm really hyped about this.

Unfortunately I just don't see it being a success. Its a little too weird for the mainstream. Lucy did $43 million opening weekend and I don't think this will do much better.

Depending on the budget that will make it either a total failure or not enough of a success to guarantee sequels.

SJ has enough international appeal to get butts in seats though and it seems like Domestic BO isn't really that important anymore. If it does big worldwide it can be successful. I don't know what the chances of that are though.

PS. This trailer was obviously meant to pander to the fans. I can understand if people not familiar with GitS would not be that impressed.
I'm honestly not that worried about BO lucy ended up doing nearly 500 million even though it had mixed reviews. I'm thinking this could do similar numbers which would be a huge win for anime movies. Isn't scarlett popular in asia? those guys could really show out.
