Drive - New TV series on Fox

Somebody needs to make a petition to keep this show on the air. It could have been so badass, all the little things they set up could have made the show so amazing. If enough people back behind this maybe we can get something out of this.

I dont think we should let this go. We need to fight like hell for more Drive. F*** Fox, we dont need them. The Cw would even be a better fit for Drive. Scoff if you want, but the CW is a smaller network that doesnt depend on mindblowing ratings. This show could really thrive there.

Because that worked so well for Firefly, and Enterprise, and Angel, and The Tick... :whatever:

It is gone, and Fox are morons. Move on. Hopefully Minear will be able to do a movie or something to give the fans closure...but after what happened with Serenity (and yes, Minear is tied to both that and Whedon whether he likes it or not) I can't see any studio touching it. Maybe a DTV or mini-series.

Fox shouldn't pick up serialized shows if they don't want to give them time to develop. It takes time for the hype to build up, for the twists to reel in viewers, etc.

Ugh, this is the most disappointing cancellation for me since Freaks And Geeks.

A grand total of two weeks, more than enough time to get the word out there, about this show.

y'know, this is probably the last time I watch a serialized drama on Fox...

it's pretty damn aggravating to invest yourself in a series that gets yanked after a handful of episodes and you end up never knowing what happens to the characters.

why **** did they can it??

it was awesome!! it was like the best thing to come out of american TV in the last two years!!

were the ratings really that bad? cause i'm sure that this would have been watched by a lot of people of a lot of different reasons...

I really can't understand why Tim Minear continues to work with Fox, this is what four shows they've now cancelled. It's not very surprising though, if it's not a crappy reality show it's not worth Fox's time. Why put House in that slot, why not another hour of Karoke Idol, surely the two hour results show wasn't enough, they can squeeze another hour into the week.

it pisses me off. Fox has gotten some of the best series in quite a few years (Arrested Development, Firefly, Wonderfalls, John Doe, the list goes on) but mishandle them to death and never even give them any real chance.

only good shows that manage to survive Fox's trigger happy fingers in recent years were 24, Prison Break and House. but if they hadn't screwed up with all the other gems they had with them, Fox could have the best schedule by far.

to be honest all the shows Fox have canned are WAY better than what they've kept...

24 is over rated, prison break just flew right by me and house i never saw. on the other hand...drive was laying the seeds for good things, firefly was a brilliant scifi, arrested development was one of the best comedies america had to offer.

Yeah, I am totally pissed that they canceled this show...it was a great show...

...oh well, atleast we'll have a little closure with the 'final two episodes'...

CAH

Never...watched...House?!?

I'll admit, I didn't think I was going to watch it at all. But I gave the first episode the chance. I've been addicted ever since. I especially love all the crap and honesty House get away with.

But you're all right about how skiddish FOX is when it comes to ratings. If it's not a blockbuster right of the bat, they have no interest. They seem to have short memories since some of their longest running shows didn't start out with a huge fanbase. Drive is just more proof that FOX is just numbers happy.

The problem is, other networks don't seem to want to pick up 'FOX' shows, even though the ratings would be about the same (and the shows would probably get a longer run). So us fans are damned no matter what.

You know, to an extent it is Minear's fault. There was practically no chance of this surviving on Fox. This type of show would either:

A) Be better suited for a movie.
or
B) Be better suited for a network like FX or USA with the standard cable network season of 12 to 16 episodes.

I mean, 6 million viewers on a cable network is a hit. Minear should've expected something like that and pitched accordingly.

Fox should be cancelled. Seriously, Fox should be literally wiped off the face of television. 2 million years of the Simpson's, mediocre on again-off again episodes of Family Guy, a bland 24 (which is a surprise considering how great last season was), lame ass teeny-bop reality like American Idol and a very formulaic House (or so the promos make it appear). Thats honestly what they have to offer, and I am no longer interested in watching. Good day, Fox.

Yeah, I wish it had been on FX.

I'm not going to argue that 24 is over rated. But that said, it has at times been brilliant viewing. Prison Break is amazing, at least the first season was. The second didn't quite have the same edge, that anything could go wrong at any moment. And House, while very formulaic, is something you don't mind seeing the same thing happen over and over again because the characters (especially House) make the show worth watching.

Yes AD was magnificent. Firefly was enjoyable. (Though admittedly I don't find it to be he pinnicle of Sci-Fi writing everyone else seems too.)

Seriously if you haven't given 24, Prison Break or House a real chance, you should. I didn't watch 24 for the first time until late last year and I ended up watching all 5 season in a matter of weeks.

I could have told you this was gonna be axed after while.

Every single new show they've put on they've ended up axing.

What kind of ratings are they expecting they pull iyt after a few eps.

That Nathan Fillion guy can't catch a break huh?

Hey J Alba, wheres that avatar from? Like Which movie? Cause I need to see it NOW.

dude, I don't even want to think about how awesome this series would've been on Showtime... :(

Why the hell does anyone even bother pitching ideas to Fox? I've been watching this and enjoying it massively, But like alwasy the f**ktards in charge screw up and can what would have become a great show.

Heck even my bro was annoyed at the cancelation of this and he NEVER gets worked up over TV shows EVER.... Thats how good it was.

Wonder if Minear is able to pitch the show to other stations for them to pick up (Ala SG-1 Showtime->Scifi)

I haven't watched this show. But it's sad that so many shows these days never get a chance to grow. If it's not an instant hit they end it. Such crap. So many good shows I have liked ended because people don't know how to promote things.

It all depends on who owns the rights, but again...Minear is closely associated with Whedon and Firefly. After Serenity's bomb, I don't see anyone giving Minear a second chance.

There's alot of money in network television. Sure Drive could be a hit on FX or Showtime, etc. but then he'd be broke. Better to write for Fox and have them consistently cancel your shows after a few episodes than have a successful show on the USA network that pays next to nothing in comparison.

If you're a complete ****e for money and not interested at all in the creative process, which I don't get from Minear. Granted, I don't know the guy so I could be wrong, but whatever.
