I don't know... even though he'll write Thor and finish of some mini's, he decided not to be exclusive to Marvel around OMD, and he has something going on with DC, so I wouldn't be surprised after his run on Thor, that'll be it for JMS at Marvel for the time being...

And I'd be surprised if he lasts more than 18 issues on Thor...

Man, JRjr is my favorite Spidey artist ever. I think a lot of artists draw Spidey a tad too beefy any way.

That's because his run on ASM was finished by then. He wasn't being held by some exclusive commitment to Marvel anymore.

I think Ron Garney had a pretty good hold on what Spidey should look like also. He drew him thin but with toned muscles. His Peter Parker was perfect too.

I just wanted to add that I don't find JQ completely blameless for OMD, but the bottom line is something that Marvel Comics Inc., and JQ, thought the end result of OMD was the best for Spider-Man readership in the long run.

And I just brought up the Clone Saga because it was an obvious attempt by Marvel to bring back Spidey closer to his roots with everyday problems, being single, and with a supporting cast.

I thought it was lame that they even attempted that with the clone saga... then they go and do it by "killing off" mj in the fake bomb attempt.. then again with the split.... and then for the 4th and very unoriginal and stale idea they do it again but try to make it permanent. I want to know who's bright idea thought that after 3 failures, a 4th attempt was a good idea..

The only part of that they couldn't have had with a married Peter Parker is the single bit, though. I always find it odd that they somehow equate Peter's being married to the complete absence of Peter's social life. Most married couples I know still have friends and still go out. If Peter and MJ have more friends and go out a little more than most, well, comic characters are supposed to be exaggerated, right? In the end, the question that still lingers in my mind every time I think of OMD is "why was this necessary?" What would really have changed so much in BND if May died or were healed by any of the billion guys who could've healed her and Peter and MJ were still married? Just cosmetic stuff, from what I can see. No "macking on hotties at the club," obviously, no Jackpot, and no Harry. Just substitute Randy Robertson or Flash Thompson or a new character as Peter's best friend and the rest could be essentially the same.

agrees... they went out alot with there friends when dating... just because you slap the married label on them shouldn't of changed that. the only and closest thing they gave MJ as a friend in the past 5 years was felicia and in one issue, sue richards *yawn*.... please.... MJ use to be a social butterfly, she should be hanging with betty, liz, debra, flash, and actually having some what of a life.

Garney is better than great. He's risen to be one of the absolute best in the medium over the years, as far as I'm concerned. I'd read pretty much anything he's drawing.

Um...No I'm not.I'm Sorry my opinion offended you so much.As you mentioned JMS disagreed with Joey Q on a lot of things concerning OMD.This I believe fueled even slightly his decision to not remain exclusive.You said the reason he didn't resign was his commitment with ASM was over.That doesn't mean anything.Exclusive contracts specify the years one will be exclusive not what books they write{To my knowledge}So he could have gotten off Amazing resigned and worked on any number of marvel projects besides Thor and the twelve.He decided not too and in my opinion The differences with Joey Q on OMD was one of the reasons.What I'm basing my opinion on is this article http://forum.newsarama.com/showthread.php?t=141756 Also just because you respect someone doesn't automatically mean you will work with them.

Actually, I said just one thing--the ending. JMS wanted to attach a different (and much worse) ending to OMD. He didn't get it, which is why he didn't want his name attached to the last two issues, as they weren't really his work. That's one thing, not "a lot of things." Keep in mind that JMS was the one who volunteered to write OMD in the first place.

And if JMS was so fed up with Quesada, he wouldn't be working with Marvel at all.

I thought in principal the Clone saga was a clever and brave idea, and a much better way of ending the marriage (As TMOTB has stated this was its purpose - make Pete Single again) - unfortunately it was really poorly executed. Look at it this way:

- Peter, Mary Jane and baby May all live happily ever after
- Peter (Ben) continues as a single Spider-man with that 'Parker luck'
- None of the previous spider-man history is erased- to the extent the events actually happened (and we still read them) just not to the current spider-man
