Mysterio aint lame. Raimi prefers these type of villains anyways. Something about his childhood favourites.

well as long as Topher Grace is back as Venom for the Venom movie and Carnage is in it I'll be happy with that. then that leaves room for SM4 to have Lizard as the hero/villain Electro should be the main villain and a cliffhanger for Doc Ocks return.

im hoping for topher in VENOM too, but i'm (sadly) doubting it'll happen...

Mysterio is far from a lame villain. If done right he could give Spidey and the audience a total mind****. He could be like Scarecrow using some sort of gas that would bring out Spidey's inner fears and such and make him go crazy. Mysterio made Spidey go nuts once in the comics.

I do. I like Lizard, Kraven, Rhino, Scorpion, Mysterio, Shocker, Vulture, Carnage & all of the villains already in the movies.

I really want Lizard in this though.

Grace is a HORRIBLE Venom. Plus a horrible actor.

the more I think about mysterio the more I think the guy has potential.

the could do a storyline where spidey turns into a robber and the police set up a task force to take him down. I always wanted to see peter v police, using his speed and ability to dodge a hail of bullets.

mysterio could do things like make monsters, give spidey illusions like he is 5 inches high, give the illuision he is one million years in the past.

having said that I still hope the main villian is lizard.

Johnny Depp is a little bit too good looking to be Mysterio I think. Though, he's a good actor so that might be cool anyway I guess.

I've always liked Christopher Walken for Mysterio, he tends to do character roles, he has the not-so-good looks Beck has, and his voice is distinctive enough to keep him behind a fishbowl while still getting the sense of the actor in there.

Also, Baker could be the Lizard in 4 as there really doesn't need a whole movie of set up of his character and situation to precede his story.

That's still a pointless reason to not use the lizard. Scott and Cameron didn't use CGI to bring the aliens to life. Good old-fashioned creativity and intelligence did and I don't see how it wouldn't be applicable in giving the people what they want. The Lizad.

Well, I'm just speculating on what Raimi meant by 'going back to basics' for this Spider-man. After the CGI heavy SM3 I thought maybe he wouldn't want to be doing that type of villan rightaway again. Lizard would be a very ambitious villan to realise onscreen, maybe the most ambitious. Even apart from sfx, there would have to be decisions made on how he would talk, how intelligent he would be, how much of Conners was still in there, as in the Lizard stories over the course of the history his character has varied in that regard.

And if they have not settled or are not totally happy with any story treatments for him, they are better off holding off rather than rushing in just because 'it's what people want'. Many Venom fans would have prefered they held off with that character other than rushing him in because Avi Arad said the fans wanted him.

RE: sfx. Alien is a perfect movie to me, but there is one scene, when the alien gets Dallas in the ducts, where it looks exactly like it is, a guy in a suit. That's exactly what we do not want. I bet my arm CGI will be used to make the Lizard, how long ago was Jurrasic Park, they looked pretty convincing to me back then. Lizards are one organism that CGI has been proven to do convincingly real. Creativity and intelligence have to go into CGI too.

-Kraven

-Chameleon

As lead villains. Chameleon, Kraven and Lizard can all be one film. Having Chameleon mastermind his brother, while he also hunts Connors.

Electro can hold his own.

Scorpion would give Jonah a bigger role.

Tombstone could be handled like The Spectacular Spider-man.

Kingpin could mastermind a supervillain.

Well, it's still uncertain whether Lizard is going to be the villain or not, but this is a great start!

Lizard is one of my favorite Spidey villains, so of course he's my top pick for Spider-Man 4.

Baker appeared with his "Trick R ‘ Treat" director Michael Dougherty at a screening of the latter, and both participated in a Q&A afterwards. UGO reports, "Baker said that he had just gotten his first call concerning Spider-Man 4 that very day.

When Dougherty ribbed him about "just appearing in the background" Baker said that, basically, that's what he'd be doing.

This is true, obviously. But he isn't coy or excited at all. He doesn't say anything like "We'll see" or "I can't say" or anything like that. Either way they're finally bringing the cast together it sounds like

There is the possibility that Baker is lying in order to keep the secrecy of the script. I mean if he told us he had a large role in the movie then it would be pretty obvious he's going to be The Lizard.

I'd like to see Mysterio played by Bruce Campbell but I would never want that to be the main villian .
The sinister six would be awesome but I think you would need to bridge to sequels for that to work out.

I think the reason people are so desparate to get their favorite villian in the movie is because you know there is a 4-6 year wait for SM5 (from now rather than when SM4 wraps).

Well that's why Sony has James Vanderbilt writing the scripts for 5 and 6 now and plan on making them with or without Sam Raimi cause they don't want to wait longer for 5 to come out after 4.

I'm not sure what I perfer, a spiderman movie every other year or a big gap so they can step back and look at what direction they are taking.
I definately would have peferred the SM4 to be coming out 2010 rather than 2011 because the amount of superhero movies and blockbusters in 2011 is insane where as very few superhero movies are coming out next year.

Well at least he's returning though it'd be disappointing if the Lizard were not to appear (yet again).

Hopefully they'll delve a little more in to Connors background and foreshadow more prominently what's to come.
