What is this actually tracking at? Around 80 million? I imagine this will have great WOM too so minimal drops.
If it makes 80 million US, what are the chances of it clearing 200 million world wide this weekend? If it does that we gotta be looking at at least 550-600 right?
Deadline is reporting an $11.2M late Thursday/midnight tally for the film which is the best so far this year.

With the apparent success of Guardians of the Galaxy I fear for the crow population.
The what?
Actually, probably closer to $90m, if not $100m.![]()
Just remember something guys. The biggest openings for August were like The Bourne Ultimatum and Rush Hour 2. Those made like just under $70 million. Ultimatum came out in 2007. That was before massive 3D and IMAX releases like this.
So just saying, if Ultimatum came out today and it was still able to sell a comparable number of tickets, plus it had maybe 3D or IMAX formats, that would've given it a lot more than $69 million. Probably would've been like $80 million-ish.

With these surprising news, Guardians of the Galaxy will very likely now pass $100 million in its opening weekend.
Oh yeah!
This flcik will shut up all those "they are not mainstream enough, nobody will see that" comments hopefully for awhile.
This flicks important, people want good fresh properties.
Actually, probably closer to $90m, if not $100m.
/fingers crossed
You know what that means? SQUIRREL GIRL!
On a serious note though just imagine what Marvel could do with the Fantastic Four. It's kinda sad really.
The what?
Yep. Either way, great success for GotG.There's really no way to know for sure how much it would be today since it's more than just inflation we're talking about.
Maybe this film will usher in a new age in Hollywood were the reliance on sequels and reboots will give way to trying out new things as well as not being scared of obscure properties. One can dream haha
John Campea over at AMC has said that if this hits big then basically nothing is off the table anymore. If they can make this work then they can make anything work if approached from the right angle. I tend to agree with him on this one.
