The Dark Knight Eckhart Speaks! (Again)

An eight or nine year old could tell you this stuff. Eckhardt has to inhabit this character to make it work right. I'll wait to celebrate till I see him say something intelligent about the psychology behind Two-Face. Being against crime is saying what the character does before he's a villain. So what?

In some tellings, he is also trying to clean up Gotham as Two-Face. Just doing it in the exact wrong way.

I'd say it's pretty clear he spoke too soon. The article states he says, "Yeah", reconsiders for a moment, THEN says the whole "Harvey than Two-Face" thing.

Wouldn't that mean that he's Two-Face in TDK, then?

I wouldn't say so, seemed more like him saving face, by stating the obvious "oh he's this, then he's that".

That's not to say I wouldn't want there to be a scarring scene at the end of TDK though. Just by the way Eckhart responded quickly to that question and slowly took it back makes me doubt it'll happen.

Well, I mean I think you're right, if only because of the old rule about test anxiety - your first answer is usually the right one. But the question was about TDK, and TDK alone. So he says he's Dent, then he's Two-Face... either he's lying (why would he lie?) or he's given us a vague and indistinct answer.

It's got room for interpretation because he kept talking. If he'd just left it at "yeah," there'd be nothing to discuss.

That's why I think he's lying, cause I'd assume that's the sorta question the producers wouldn't want you giving a definitive answer to.

True. But because of that, how do you know if you can trust any part of that answer?

Like I said, because the article stated he started thinking after he gave his answer. To me that seems like Eckhart went "..whoooops". :D

i really hope we see him get scarred in TDK, purely for the fact that i dont want to see him scared for the first time in trailer for the sequel.

i want a cliffhanger style ending. One in which it leaves the audience clamoring for more! Dent being scarred near the end would work well. I think far better than seeing him scarred in the beginning of the 3rd.

Harvey should get scarred at the the end of the Dark Knight and get a the last line of dialogue in the film. Something evil and disturbed. :yay:

I see nothing that says he actually gets the character.

"He's from the same world...but apart from it"?

K.

Considering the last actor to portray the character admitted his only reason for taking the role was because his son wanted him to, I'd say any genuine interest Eckhart shows in the role is a step in the right direction.

Personally, I haven't seen many actors really say something deep and profound when just cast for a role. He pretty much gave the stock answer just like everyone does. IMO, at least.
That statement is quite clear, IMO. That's, "he's against crime, like Batman; he's a dual personality, like Batman; but he's evil, where Batman is decidedly not."
He also could have meant that, with Batman, it's all about bringing order to chaos. Whether it be with the death of his parents, his own struggles with that, Gotham, whatever. With Two-Face, it's much of the same; bringing order to chaos. Yet Two-Face's methods in bringing "order" is completely different, and, ironically, often chaotic.

He seems to be the correct person for the roll.

I can't wait!

Still dont see why he wouldnt become Two-Face at the end of The Dark Knight. I actually would like to be left with a cliff hanger.

He seems excited and he certainly looks the part but im still not sold on Eckhart being able to portray a convincing TWOFACE any decent actor can do a decent dent but a twoface/dent split personality is a extremally hard character to portray convincinly nothing i have seen from him in the past shows me otherwise. A safe choice imo.

I hope we don't see him scarred, I do however hope we see the acid thrown on his face towards the end, but we don't see his face til the next one.

and I hope Joker meets Harley Quinn in Arkham at the end

Yeah pretty much. It sounds like the usual "actor talking about the character" interview mumbo jumbo. I mean if your going to judge actors and actresses from their interviews...jesus I don't even wanna go into that.

It´s also typical of eight or nine years old to whine about nothing. It´s normal than an actor doesn´t go into much detail about his character this early. Eckhart is a competent and smart actor, and he seems very excited about the part and working with Nolan, that´s plenty for me for the moment.

About the statement, it´s obviously kinda coy, could mean he becomes Two-Face by the end of the movie, maybe a little sooner, it´s open to interpretation. I remember a Goyer interview where he implied Harvey would become Two-Face in TDK as a set up for the third movie.

what does he mean his character is going to be killed:wow:

Who really wants a competant actor?. I want the best and sorry imo Eckhart isnt it.

Nice interview. :yay:

He may have sliped that he becomes 2face at the end of The Dark Knigh but that doesn't mean it may be in the movie, can always be edited out.
